So they've got with the Anglo-Welsh format except that it'll be the top 8 teams that have the most points that proceed to quarter-finals and not the winners of each pool.
I still think this is an awful and needless decision given they're doing home & away quarter-finals, it reduces the competition from 9 to 8 weeks yet all teams will see far less games in the knockouts.

Apparently we’ll have either Bristol/Wasps and Racing/Toulon as our 2 opponents. Home and away.

Unprecedented times have called for unprecedented choices. It’s not as if all this is the standard for the future. The whole sporting calendar is in disarray. There was always gonna be one season things were different.

Pool stages: Tier 3 clubs play Tier 2 clubs from the other leagues PRO14 PRL TOP14 Tier 1 Leinster Exeter Bordeaux-Begles Edinburgh Sale Lyon Tier 2 Munster Bristol Racing 92 Ulster Wasps Toulon Tier 3 Scarlets Bath La Rochelle Glasgow Saints Clermont Tier 4 Connacht Harlequins Toulouse Dragons Gloucester Castres/Montpellier So, if I've got this right, as it currently stands, we'll play Briz, Wasps, Racing & (naturellement) RCT in the pool stages, 2 home & 2 away. Cracking.

Just noticed on the BBC article that after listing the Pro 14 sides it says "(rankings TBC at conclusion of current season)" |

Also the clubs ranked 5-8 in each pool will drop into the Challenge Cup round of 16.

I could be wrong but I don't think that's right. If, for example, we were one of the tier 3 teams in Pool 1 then I read it that we would play the two tier 2 teams in Pool 1 who are not in the Pro 14 and we'd play them both home and away - so only playing two seperate clubs in the pool stages. Yes? |

EPRC have confirmed that no matter what happens in the Pro14 knockouts, Leinster are going to finish in tier 1.
So for example if we see a final of Munster vs Edinburgh, Leinster and Munster will be tier 1 with Edinburgh in tier 2 despite making the final. Awful league fair play.

That would be a ridiculous situation. Time to leave our Irish friends behind and start an anglo-welsh league.

They've either U-turned now due to criticism or EPRC were incorrectly informing reporters of the situation:-
