Maybe they are hoping a change in coach will mean results improve & give themselves the best possible chance of qualifying for next seasons HC & therefore more income?

Maybe - but it'd be a long shot, if so!

Cardiff for the capital region are a complete shambles and have been for years. They go from coach to coach and make the same mistakes every time, hardly ever having a pack that can compete.
The disagreements they have with the athletic club are an embarrassment and so unprofessional. Perhaps it’s time for the WRU to Merge them with there own region the Dragons. Edited by Why - 05 January 2021 at 12:04pm |

Can’t see Ulster releasing Peel before the end of the season especially when there is a possibility of silver ware at the moment. The game this weekend against Leinster will be a key match. The way the ERC is set up this year it is unlikelyUlster will qualify for the championship cup but theChallenge Cup is still a realistic Target. Dwayne Peel is going to go to Cardiff but it is with regret that Ulster are losing him.
He is an excellent attack coach but I am not sure how he would make out as a Head Coach but having worked under Dan McFarland would certainly give a good target to follow.

Dai Young confirmed as interim Director of Rugby at Cardiff Blues, with the intention of making it a permanent appointment.
He'll have a watching brief against Scarlets this weekend before taking the reins from next week. Will undoubtedly give the club a boost ahead of the final seasonal derby. Jarrod Evans back fit, but Navidi & Ellis Jenkins not yet ready to play, & Garyn Smith out for 5-6 months. |

Confirmation of what his appearance has suggested for a long while, that Dai Young is still nourished by Pies.

The Blues Head coach role has had the sword of Damocles hanging over it from Day 1 over the last 15 years. Up the there with being Kim Jong Il's Chief of the military in terms of life expectancy.
Perennial underachievers due to, predominantly, a whole host of off field antics around ground, funding, ownership etc. A Young/Peel ticket is pretty exciting in principal …I just really hope they asked for (and got) a clear road map of how the funding will be made available to re-build what is a pretty aging and under delivering team in some areas. Harsh I know...but with Arhip, Dacey, Turnbull, Lloyd W, Lee-Lo, Halaholo, Gill and others in their thirties years (but still very much 1st choice 23 players), it's going to take some money. They can build a decent squad quite quickly around the likes of Adams, Amos, Hill, Botham, Lewis-Hughes, Lane and hopefully Ellis Jenks etc...but there's a paucity of front 5 options of course...no disrespect meant but if you have the likes of Gill, Scott Andrews and guys like Tovey as your first choice subs you can get exposed. I think Wales rugby needs a strong Blues component mind. Edited by Wil Chips - 08 January 2021 at 5:32am |
