I thought they’d go the other way to minimise the chance of teams from the same league playing each other.

France. Lions “tour” to be played in the uk. Big mess this isn’t it? No ones fault

I don't see that happening - there is a new variant of COVID in SA which we don't want here - and they surely don't want our variant 'down there'.

We don't want to swap the bugs, do we?
I see it happening as I do the Rainbow Cup. Professional sporting sides are going to be exempt from travel corridor closures.
I still wake up late at night and think of what might have been when tim stimpson hit that jammy penalty1

Well, we'll see.

I'm in two minds - on the one hand, watching a bit of sport helps to keep us more or less sane during this COVID crisis. On the other - it may help to spread the virus, so cross-border competitions are even dicier than internal ones.

My thoughts exactly.

The way the virus is spreading in Ireland, I can see a situation where Irish Pro14 sides won't be able to play in other countries, let alone the Irish national side, within a few weeks.

Ireland have the 2nd highest rate of transmission in the world at the moment, behind Israel.

Don't their Tier 5 restrictions prevent professional sport?

It seems very likely pro sporting sides will be exempt

It's a tough one. I'm looking forward to watching Edinburgh Glasgow today. Edinburgh Glasgow FFS!

But my conscience is troubled when it comes to cross border sport in the current circumstances, I have to be honest
We're still still here, but I wish we were in an Anglo-Welsh

Rugby is the only pro team sport on the island of Ireland.

Why should it be though? Much that I’m enjoying watching sport I often think it should stop.

Probably has something to do with the strict testing regimes introduced.

The strict testing they’ve got access to, although there’s still massive risks involved. Unless they get the vaccine quicker?

Also Pro sport makes the country tick between rugby and football. Without it UK would have nothing.
Add to that Pro sport have had TV deals for the competitions they take part in. I assume rugby is the same in football. Premiership can not be canceled like many want as the clubs are given an upfront cost. If the league is canceled, or Europe, then those millions goes back to the TV deals which is something no club in football or rugby can afford.

Arsenal football club are on that os pleading for help as they are losing upto £4m per home game with an empty ground.
Exeter Rugby have said they are losing was it over £2m per month?

With no TV deals, it would be curtains for many teams. That along with the strict testing measures in place for them is why they are and will carry on IMO.

PE Sa - I have total sympathy with the pro rugby teams - absolutely zero for the Premiership football  teams. They lost touch with reality many years ago and contribute to their own downfall. Quite why anyone who kicks a ball around a field well is worth more per annum than a heart or cancer specialist is and always will be alien to me.

Completely agree (bold), sadly it's more like earnings in a fortnight exceed a consultant annually!! Ho, hum, market forces etc.
