Howley was class and would have performed anywhere but he was a far better player when he was at either Bridgend and Wasps than he was at Cardiff -

Howley's first attempt in Cardiff was a disaster. It was only after he was firmly established as an international that he could make it there.

There's something rotten to the core at the Arms Park, which I'm sure that the majority of the supporters there would agree.

Players over the last 10 years or so have gone there to be completely ruined. Not only the Llanelli contingent like Matthew Wintle, Justin Thomas and Spencer John but others like Lee Jarvis and even Gareth Thomas didn't set the place ablaze. The thing is that it is continuing even now. Where has Gethin Jenkins and Robert Sidoli's form gone? Gareth Williams joined them as the current Welsh hooker and is now a completely forgotten man as far as Wales is concerned. I can't see Mike establishing himself ahead of Dwyne or Cooper should he go there. The Ospreys, however, are a different proposition.

The Blues need a complete shakedown which could only start with Peter Thomas leaving the set-up.
