The ARU has been short of cash for a few years now. It isn't just finance- they haven't got enough quality players to fill the rosters either. The politics of Super Rugby makes grim reading and apparently the current structure means everyone is getting less of what they want- Saffer teams want to play NZ teams but now play them less is just one of the many complaints. Crowds seem to be down _ i know Saffer teamsplay in big stadia but some of their matches this season seem to be a bit like Edinburgh playing in Murrayfield with just a few thousand there. There seems to be a general super rugby crisis everywhere except in NZ. What I didn't realise is the chief exec of Super Rugby is a Welsh international- Andy Marinos. Sounds as though we were lucky he returned south.
