Today we  remember  ,  JJ and  his  family  and  our sympathises  are with  them all. Today is the 31 st of October  and on this date in 1972 we of course beat the 1972 All Blacks.   JJ was part of that side,  alongside our beloved  Grav  who  thirteen years ago on this day passed away also.  Hefin Jenkins also  from that side has  since departed too  . We remember them all with great  affection. Its quite  fitting  and poignant that today sees Parc Y Scarlets host it's  very first  senior welsh international match. It's a day of celebration of course,  for us as a club but  we also remember  . Wonderful memories,  Ymlaen y Scarlets

Wow I hadnt realised that it was today the anniversary of 9-3 and Gravs passing
To think these great characters like Grav and JJ and many others of that heroic team have gone and even stradey itself has gone, but the memories remain.

Sorry to be maudlin after that borefest, but when you look at the old film footage. Everything looked more fun more colourful, more expressive on the pitch and off it, more atmospheric, more beautiful in those clips. The game, the players, the fans, the joi de vivre....Stradey itself as JJ flew down the line against the aussies , the tanner bank bursting at the seams, crowds on the pitch, the real original ranch and the real grass tennis courts and stradey woods all in the back drop..Maybe the word real is the key, we had real wealth in the natural resources, real singing on the terraces and in our chapels, real ale from foel and real working class heroes on the pitch...Here we are 48 years later in a nice off the shelf shiny stadium which has everything money can buy, yet has nothing stradey had.
