Really gutsy and determined performance by the young Llanelli team v Champions Merthyr, losing 7-26 but giving the mature and experienced Merthyr outfit a good game in wet and greasy conditions. Great credit to the squad when you bear in mind injuries and the Academy players away for weeks in the A league or, like Ioan Nicholas, now in the Scarlets team. Lads permitted in from clubs like the Llanelli Wanderers, Felinfoel and Ammanford to name a few to cover injuries and absences sets this result in context when judging the result. Huge lift in playing levels for these young men. Perhaps unfair on them but, it gives them opportunities as well to be on central stage. A tough away game now to Llandovery and then life will hopefully get better as we play clubs were we can get a result especially if we have some of the cavalry back from the A league from the Scarlets who obviously control all this.
