Nash is unfairly remembered as the first bowler in first class cricket to be hit for six 6s in an over - by Garry Sobers, playing for Notts v Glamorgan at Swansea (St Helens).

This is the recording (with maybe Wilf Wooler commentating?):

I remember seeing it on TV at the time (not sure if I saw it live or a recording, now).

Nash was a key member of the Glamorgan team in the 1960s and 70s, and was the main wicket taker when Glam. won the county championship in 1969 (forget if the captain was Tony Lewis or Alan Jones...?).

He also took 6 wickets (5 in the first innings) when Glamorgan beat the Aussies in 1968.

Many fond memories of Malcolm Nash playing.

Being a member of Glamorgan at the tender age of about 6 for 3 or 4 years, I saw him play a fair bit and liked him.

Was at St Helens the day before the Sobers over.

Over 1000 career wickets, he was one heck of a great bowler hes up there with croft and don shepherd at the top of the glamorgan list...and with the bat he was lower order but could hit the ball miles...in fact he scored one century off 61 balls with 7 sixes....
Now sir garfields 6 sixes is the most memorable moment in the history of cricket...the legendary wilf wooler commenatating
but malcolm nash didnt regret being hit for the record...nash and many others of that era were great sportsmen and gentlemen to their fingertips....heres tv gold for you as malcolm nash and sir garfield are together giving an interview in canada..i read that nash left to coach and live in america 30 odd years ago

And of course Nash was a very good mid paced seam bowler not off-spinner. He could bat a bit as well. Very decent player πŸ‘

I think you meant "a medium paced swing bowler AS WELL AS a spinner".... my recollection is that Nash could, and did, bowl both styles, and it certainly looks as if he's spinning in the famous Sobers over - click on the link above. He is surely not bowling medium pace off the hop, step and jump run up in that over.

Perhaps others can confirm?

Yes he did bowl both but his main bowling style was definitely mid paced seam/swing not spin. That day he was definitely bowling spin. I seem to recall it was under orders and perhaps a shortage of alternative spinners that day but can’t recall now ( sooohh many years back !😱) .

Yes, he did operate as a spinner on occasions.

Does anyone remember if he had a season with Llanelli CC, during the years when a county player were allocated to the clubs.

Eifion Jones, Roger Davies, David or Brian Lewis were 3 who played. If the club was lucky and had a fringe player they would play all season, and enjoyed themselves. Eifion had a few seasons, and also played a lot of rugby for Pontarddulais RFC as well as half a season with Llanelli Wanderers. Useful centre.
Be careful when you pick up the stick.........IT MAY BE THE WRONG END!!!!!!!!!!
