This would be a dream scenario. He has all the attributes he needs a run of games.
Been very impressed with mcleod this year. Looking for him to develop further over next few years.

Would love a true number 8 but Barclay and Boyde have been nothing short of brilliant for us so not that important as a good finisher on wing.

Now, this is a serious point. In the past, pitches turned into mudbaths when the rains came down - and pretty much all grounds had a strip along the touchlines which had been churned into mud by January.

That no longer seems to be the case, thanks to better pitches plus, maybe, fewer matches... would anyone care to estimate how many pro-12 pitches now turn to mud in winter? This is a real question, as it does indeed influence the type of player who might be useful.
I share no-one's ideas. I have my own.

If Gareth Owen (ball playing centre) and Hadleigh Parkes (centre/wing at a push) are your 3rd and 4th names for full back, then you definitely have a hole in your squad.

We certainly have a hole at FB now that Aled's contract has not been renewed. we have promising wing options who can probably fill the gap but at FB we are exposed.

It is THE issue now. As we're playing a light back 5 we can get away without an 8 - unless someone in the Fritz Lee mould comes along. If we are without a real fullback (JMac injured, Steff with Wales), we'll be in big trouble.

Well you have criticised two options for FB so far. I would be very interested in who you believe we should go for to improve our back 3.

Steff Evans, Johnny Mcnichol, Hadleigh Parks, Gareth Owen etc etc.

We have plenty of quality options for 15 within our current squad, and developing new back three players from within our region is our absolute speciality.

Everyone here is always obsessed with signing new backs, when it's up front that we have been notoriously weak. Thankfully, we have even developed depth in that area too, but we are still very weak with regards to close contact ball carriers. Yes we'd love to be slinging the ball around every game, but we know that that is not always possible and we come unstuck badly. We need the players to enact a plan B.

A Big name signing at 8 and perhaps lock too would be hugely positive for next season. A big name back 3 player would make little difference.
if you move steff to full back we are short of quality on the wing for the pace of game we are playing.

and with all of our "8's" available, what is the quality option for horizontal rain in a mud bath out in Galway?

Barclay.
The stadium may change, but the dream will remain the same!

Rob Simmons and Leroy Houston won't be renewed at Queensland Reds.

That's our second row (not that I'm sure we should invest in one as a first priority) and number 8 sorted...

Owen has played very well plenty of times at 15 for us.

and yet all of our options at 8 actually being lightweight flankers doesn't concern you. Go figure.

I'm happier sticking with a championship winning forward pack than playing an injury prone centre who is coming back from serious injuries at 15.

His style of play doesnt suit the Scarlet way. He doesnt attack by coming into the line much.

We would be signing a 10 match goal kicker at best.

Not a good fit at all. But i would take him if there isnt another option.

Dont get me wrong i really like him as a player. But as 15 for us i would prefer jonny mac.

Hp on the wing if he was to sign.

Have we ever thought that with Wales's ultra boring game plan and Toulon dictated style my have stifled HP's flair and with us he could unleash the former attacking player he once was. I mean Pivac world is infectious and a winning g way!!!

Horizontal rain success with style?

Look back to Connacht late April. Awful weather didn't stop champagne rugby and a four try first half.

If Collins wants to return, fits the wage bill and more importantly fits the culture that Wayne Pivac is building at PYS then why not sign him.
The priority for the budget though has to be retaining all the boys that are out of contract next season and ideally on longer than 2 year deals, the way the coaching team have the boys all fighting for each other is the way forward for us not looking for high profile names that might not fit with the dressing room.
In fact it could well be the way forward for most teams with Exeter having won the English league as well.

Houston signed a 2 year deal with Bordeaux-Begles. Hope they have more lipuck with hopim than they've had with Kepu, Ashley-Cooper, Madigan and others.
