I think we have a great chance to get off to a flying start with Ulster away and then Leinster and Benneton home.
The Irish will have their Internationals missing as they are normally rested early on by the IRFU.

We should be aiming for 3 from three .

We have 4 types of team we put out:

a) Full strength for ECC
b) about 70% first choice as we rest some NDC players or have injuries  (as in Bath away last year)
c) International window with some players returned
d) International window with all players in camp

I believe teams b) through d) will be better this year, not sure about team (a) with Shingler missing and Beirne gone...

if Leinster really rests players,  then 3 from 3 should be the goal.

I doubt there will be many Ireland-rested Ulster players. There were no Ulster players in the Ireland v Aussie starting xvs were there? and, especially as they disappointed last season, I expect IRFU to release most if not all for that first game. I think it will be a very tricky one and see Ulster (who always perform better first half of season it seems) as favs for that

Ulster will be a tough start at Ravenhill. No doubt that. But the have lost quality in Bowe/Piatau as well as Olding/Jackson etc. They’ve not recruited like they used to either and their head coach will not be in place until the season has already started. We will be playing them when their coaching staff only consist of Easterby and Dwayne.
Tough opponents but this could very well be Ulster’s weakest ever period. They’ve not been able to replace the quality they have lost. Huge testing season awaits them IMO. They will however be a stern test at Ravenhill.

Did Best and Stockdale play out in Aus ? I'm sure that Henderson was injured, but with RWC next season he may also be rested.

C00ney and Rob Herring were also named in the original tour party.

Best was given the summer off.thought I'd better check as I suggested it (!) - Stockdale started 3rd test (Herring on after 55mins). No Ulster player started in the 2nd test (Herring on bench). Stockdale and Herring started in 1st test. So maybe Stockdale will be only one rested? Who knows.

Its Ulster away is the banana skin for me. They get obscene calls their way out there. Usually a crucial card at crucial times. Its why they are so bad away from home, they get a false sense of where they are as a team due to the Ravenhill effect.

I think its the two games we would have liked to have avoided first up! Ulster away is always a tough place to win regardless of their form over the past 18 months. Leinster are a very strong outdit even if its their second team out.

Our first 2 games could literally decide if we make the playoffs/get home play offs. Ulster and leinster will be near the top 3/4 in our conference come the end of the season

Wasn't it our second game last year Ulster away and we lost that one? Always a tough game there, our home record proves it won't be so easy for Leinster on away soil.

100% and hence it's a must win game to make a point. Full side as much as we can, for me.
