Something I'd thought about it the past but someone has created a petition to get a Parc Trostre railway station built underneath the Piano Bridge on Lower Trostre Road:-
I'm sure this would help many people on match days, and maybe the shuttle buses could run only to and from there meaning more buses?

Great idea, but where will the £3-5 million come from to build it and the work on the lines, very doubtful, especially as the main train station is only yards away really.

Last week, it was announced that Scottish MSPs are being lobbied to trial pop-up stations to test demand. One pop-up station cost £300,000 in Cumbria during the flooding there. I reckon it's worth a trial.

Didn't realise it cost that much to build a new station, probably a non-starter in which case.

I reckon you’d save less than 5 minutes drive.

What's driving time got to do with train stations? People heading from Carmarthen and beyond may be more inclined not to drive to the game if there was a station in walking distance.

It’d be a great idea if the money, at a reasonable cost, and willpower can be found.

Marvellous idea. Im all for it. Keeps traffic and pollution down all of which is good for the environment and local economy. Its the kind of idea what should be trialled throughout the whole world. IF we are actually serious about tackling pollution from cars. I suspect its way too revolutionary and proactive for the tepid toothless dare I say spineless WAG

Great idea but a non-starter really.
You have to ask yourself WHY would Network Rail spend money on something that would have very little benefit to them? All timetables and calculations to/from the East would need to be changed. To build platforms, bridges, signals etc. etc. would not only cost a small fortune but would also cause massive long term delays in rail travel as it's not that simple to work adjacent a live line. And how could anyone justify the expense when most NR money is committed to the electrification programme and one of the main players in rail work went bust a few weeks ago so NR have a backlog of work that can't be completed in the time they'd budgeted for? It'd be much cheaper and easier to build a proper footpath from the existing station through Penyfan and Parc Trostre to PYS. Edited by The Brain - 07 February 2018 at 7:56pm |

I’ve thought that was a better spot for the station for a while. It could be made a transport hub with regular buses and a link to the cycle path (loads of people use the trains for cycling trips and Llanelli is a destination with the miles of path around the town). The main argument has to be Trostre. There are strong local economic reasons to locate the station there (a free shuttle service to/from the centre would be nice). Don’t forget the HoW links us to Ammanford, Llandeilo and Llandovery. A shopping trip to Trostre is not such a bad idea with a good rail link. I wonder if other sources of funding could be brought to bear in such a development. I’d love to see more footpaths and cyclepaths around Trostre as part of any development. There are plenty of us who’d rather leave the old metal box at home whenever possible

Theyve failed to develop the walkways , pedestrian bridges etc down Just that 1 road past penclacwydd to morfa has helped a bit....But Trostre as its double/trebled in size. I dont have the visitor numbers but Im told its one of the busiest retail parks in Wales. Pemberton parc has grown rapidly too , you have the Scarlets sheer number of events and crowds growing, several new Hotels, coffee shop chains, the new Primark employed 190 staff recently, Gate Inn a pretty huge development, nearly all the councils lettings are maxed out, So congestion has worsened considerably. On the flipside I stumbled across 1 bit of good news for the town centre in my recent google searches, Llanelli library is the busiest Library in Wales, thats a pretty darn cool stat ![]() |

True. It’s a classic car centered design. Not that I want to stop cars going there, but surely if those who’d rather walk/cycle/bus/train in can do so, then those who want/need to take the car will have less traffic to contend with and an easier time finding parking spaces. Win win ![]() Yes, nice stat that on the Library. Fair play, it’s a cracking resource and really nice staff too. |

I very much doubt it. Firstly where’s the money coming from and secondly what’s wrong with the shuttle bus? How many games are there per year to justify spending millions on a train station minutes away from the existing one that they’re spending money on modernising? |

Exactly this. How long would it take to walk from the current station along a dedicated footpath skirting alongside the line, ending up in Parc Trostre and then PYS? New station is never going to happen
