Marty Holah cleared for Ospreys European double-header

Marty Holah has been cleared to play for the Ospreys in their European double-header with Munster.

The influential back-rower's appeal against his two-week has been successful after a hearing on Friday.

The New Zealander was cited following the 33-16 win over Edinburgh and was suspended for a fortnight by a Welsh Rugby Union disciplinary committee.

The 34-year-old flanker has been found guilty of tripping Chris Paterson and playing an opponent without the ball.

Both offences were deemed to be "mid-range" but the WRU professional disciplinary panel, chaired by Terry Vaux, gave Holah a two-week ban on Tuesday after mitigating factors were taken into account.

But the Ospreys appealed the decision and now influential open-side flanker Holah is available to take his place in the Ospreys side to face two-time European champions Munster in their Heineken Cup Pool Three clash at Thomond Park on Sunday.

A WRU professional disciplinary panel, chaired by Roger Morris, upheld the Ospreys' appeal at the Millennium Stadium on Friday.

has anyone got a link to what he actually did, as people have told me that it didn't warrant a ban?

Yellow card or red but don't think that warrants a ban. Not that I'm saying I'm glad it was lifted. Just an opinion on the clip.

Didn't deserve a ban however the panel should always stick to their judgments and not be bullied into reversing a decision.!

A two match ban was deserved for what Holah did. Similar to Vickery in the 2007 world cup.
And Emerick had the ball when he was tripped!

Without doubt deserved what he got, he deliberately took Patterson out with a cheap shot, knee into his right thigh, gave him a bad dead leg to which he had to go off. Ouch
