With the rate of covid as high as it is in Wales Toulon will be nervous about exposure on Friday.

Well given the way the AP did it, the sides not affected win 28-0.

Also despite 2 positive tests, including one player, the Dragons match will go ahead.

It's pretty obvious that the next month's games are the season's most watched games (on TV) in Wales.

I really hope that it doesn't make club think about how they can navigate a positive test in the club. The Dragons one sounds mighty suspicious to me.

surely they would have to provide evidence or face a ban like deano did over bloodgate?if not then it is wide open to abuse.

I'd tend to agree there.

Things been a bit dubious with the Dragons all along, imo.I was pretty astounded to hear Roberts say that he'd caught the virus after 'a long w/end trip to Croatia with some mates".Without sounding too draconian,I'd have thought that to be a little lacking in discipline, given the context.

LA Rochelle vs Bath has now been called off. Bath have said 12 players are in isolation after being identified as close contact with the scarlets player who tested positive after last weeks game. So does this mean that they are refusing to travel over to LA Rochelle with a 2nd string team and get a hammering? Because our game is still on and we've got 10 changes from last week. as is the Dragons game in Bordeaux

Correct. Wonder if they would feel the same if they had beaten us.

How do they have 12 players and not 15  who have been in close contact with our man? Watching the video would seem an inadequate way of determining how many players have been in close contact. And if they call the match off for playing against us, how are we still playing tomorrow? In our team tomorrow are players who were on the pitch all through last weeks game and so must have been in close contact. This competition is running into very choppy water.

How are more of their players in isolation than our players? Doesn’t make any sense??

So how aren’t any of our players in isolation?

I think there are quite a few. One positive test only.

I’m pretty convinced Bath are throwing this.
I know that will be called out as being incorrect.

I bet Bath haven’t mentioned most of their players going out for a few beers after the game in Bath..Looked to me as it was a Xmas party, one of the members of that gang could have contracted Covid

No elite sport in N Ireland for 6 weeks from boxing day so no Ulster home games.... This will affect both the champions cup and the pro 14.

Apparently, for Bath, the EPCR said injuries were a factor in the game being called off too.

Either way doesn't look great for the competition.

People on the Bath forum calling for us to have our game called off too, saying we should suffer sanctions.

Bad losers. All teams competing were well aware of the rules and repercussions of not completing fixtures. It is the price we all have to pay for getting access to live professional sport. The alternative would be far worse. Will the eventual champions be worthy - you bet they will; will they have enjoyed a little more luck than normal - yes indeed but in 5 years time nobody will remember.

Elite game sin NI only banned for 26/12/20-01/01/21, luckily for the pro 14, ulster are away to connacht on the 27th so no home games there will be affected

Why, that wouldnt be fair on us, not our fault that they arent prepared to throw their academy players into the game, im sure that tom rogers, Morgan Jones, Javan Sebastian, Kemsley mathius, Iestyn Rees, Dan Davis are all academy players for us who are involved against Toulon today

I've got the suspicion that had they have won last week they would have fulfilled the fixture.

It may be to do with timings around testing but 12 players doesn't sound like enough to cancel the game, Bath have got a squad of 40 senior players and 19 academy players so can only guess that a lot of their injuries/isolated players must be in certain positions like frontrow.

The statement I saw did say it was forward orientated injuries.

Who amongst their squad did Townboy spot out in the pub after the match, in “Xmas Party” mood?

I'd think you could only cancel if you were lacking the full complement of two front rows - starters and subs. Otherwise, there are many examples of large back row forwards having to fill in at second row (Kalamafoni, Rawlins, Shingler, Kennedy for us, for example)... or indeed the odd hooker having to play at 6.

If Bath don't have two full front rows (for whatever reason), then fair enough - no problem. If they are ducking a fixture for any other reason, I hope they will be punished.

Glasgow's match against Edinburgh, scheduled for the 27th Dec, has been called off due to positive tests in the Glasgow camp.

Interesting to see Bath getting awarded 4 pts for the Prem Boxing Day fixture as London Irish’s squad had Covid cases.

I’m starting to think that there’s too much grey in this, and those teams that are more astute will benefit.

It seems to be whoever gets test results back first is punished, haven't paid a great deal of attention to the prem but have there been any cases where the points split has been equal because both teams were severely impacted by covid?

It may be coincidence, however,
Bath go down with the virus and blame us. They have many more cases than we do.
Leicester Tigers beat Bayonne and then report COVID cases and have Prem matches postponed. Bayonne then suffer and had their match with Castres yesterday, iirc.
London Irish went to France and won, then reported the COVID cases.

There’s another similar incident, although the names of the clubs involved escape me.

So many coincidences.........or maybe astute gamesmanship.

No, but the point split is 4 for the late responders and 2 for the first responders.
