Sick of this league becoming a destination for the cast offs and odd bods of European rugby.
We should be begging the English/CVC for an Anglo Welsh league.

Georgia aren’t cast offs. They’re a strong tier 2 nation, I believe, for whom there’s been a lot of clamour to replace Italy in the 6N.

I can see the logic for them and maybe it could make sense for the PRO14+n competition as it seeks to expand and build revenue.

I welcome any new comers. Their national side are on par if not better than italy. They will bring a hard edge to the league.

Plus it might give the organusers an oppirtunity to create 2 leagues with promotion and relegation.

And South Africa is a tier 1 nation. Not exactly the best sides in the PRO14

Maybe could be the case to create a pro16 with 2 divisions, A and B...

And think of the away trips to Tbilisi - need a good few cans on the bus for that one.

Georgia, played 2 versus Italy and lost two..... on a par maybe with the pacific islanders but not Italy

Georgia were missing quite a few first choice players due to injury and club commitments and yet they were very competative against an italian 1st team.

Georgia's national team have been training with England at a school near Oxford this week - reports of full-on fisticuffs during 'live scrum' practice, all in front of watching schoolchildren. Eddie will love that.

The georgians are as tough as they come. I feel like any prospective player they produce will quickly get snapped up by the other teams. Might be good for their development but i’m not sure it will be good for the leagues quality at least not in the short run.

That’s their international team, you’re talking about starting up and running a professional team from scratch, when most of their players are on mega money in France.
It’s going to take 3-4 years for them to become even near competitive. There is a lot more money for example in Japan, and the Sunwolves (their Super Rugby team) have won 6 games in the last 3 years, despite having more money, a higher population and some quality non Japanese signings.

Two more South African teams poised to join our league, to form the PRO16, according to Simon Thomas (how good is it to see him back at work, btw?).

Strong rumours that 2 from the remaining SA teams of Bulls, Sharks or Stormers would switch from SuperRugby for 2020-21, with Griquas and Pumas also possibilities.

16 teams would allow a season structure of 15 games either home or away, with 3 further ties against derby opponents. 18 regular season games, versus the current 21, would mean fewer clashes with international games during the AIS & 6Ns, so international players would be available for more fixtures.
