They are welcome to Quade Cooper.

They are being linked with all and sundry because they need to create a feel good factor, to reverse ten years of negative publicity. Being linked with big name players will do this, that is why they are going public with everything. They won't be talking to any more or probably any different players than us. We are just not shouting about it.

The chairman, the just eat guy, name escapes me is obviously putting a few quid in. We have benefactors who do the same. Its a gamble, will it work, doubt it. The phrase building on sand springs to mind. Anyway, good luck to them. I'd much prefer to see them competitive. Could indirectly benefit us, we might actually have a welsh region who'll take a few points off Leinster, Munster, Glasgow etc etc.

Ive been banging on about this for ages, the fact we won the trophy last year when all our rivals were being handed 5 points on a plate most weeks makes the achivement all the more remarkable. and we seem to be doing it in even better style this season around. We are miles ahead of where we were last season.

Why is this in Scarlet General, we have no interest in him at all

I think he is just seen as another Hesnon Cipriani Hook type. In most games ive seen him he is flashy, but offers little to the team on the pitch, and is quite disruptive off it. At least thats the impression he gives.

Although we are all open to any differing opinions on his game management pal.

So fire away. Or was it just another generic post trying to belittle the opinions of posters in yet another thread you are about to kill?

Henson and Cipriani have both matured, on the pitch, into excellent tens who control the play and organise their teams.
Hook is much less flakey than he once was.

No idea about Cooper, don’t watch much Top14

The Dragons have been so poor, any news is good news. They've got the WRU and Welsh media fully on side, doing puff pieces about their players and publishing articles about potential signings to create a narrative about progress, all while results aren't getting much better. If half of the signings were true, the WRU's behavior would need serious investigation for allowing all this money to appear.

Conversely, if we were to say we were after X, Y or Z, when the signings didn't materialize the narrative would be "Scarlets struggling to attract players, something wrong at PyS etc".

Teams with genuine title aspirations failing to sign a bunch of announced players is a bad look. A joke team failing to sign them shows 'ambition'. The nonsense will be seen through eventually.

Cooper is a sometimes brilliant but erratic player who has had a bit of a disruptive off field attitude. Shades of Kurtley Beale in a way. How they could afford him though is a mystery especially with the WRU still investors in the region. They should be pulling money out now if the region via its Chairman Buttress, wants to shell out large sums of money for these players. It’s grossly unfair on the other regions otherwise.

Most wanted Moriarty but when he signed for the Dragons he suddenly became injury prone and not worth the money. I’ll leave the thread killing to you.

SA14. Some of us warned against signing Moriarty long before he signed for the Dragons, so speak for yourself when you say wanted him here.
Same goes for North- an expensive, injury prone, part-timer. Now is this long enough before he signs for the Blues /Dragons for you not to claim that I'm doing this only out of sour-grapes after he goes elsewhere?

Moriarty would have been a good signing on an NDC but not on a Scarlets only contract
I still wake up late at night and think of what might have been when tim stimpson hit that jammy penalty1

Dragons only contract is BAD business for the Dragons.
They could have paid about £300k less for the same amount of games! They are hoping they can slog him when availabale when fact is, his back needs serious management. He is already been set a limit of 20 games a season INCLUDING WALES. take the internationals into account and you are down to 10-12 regional games. Which is less than the 16 game an NDC gives them! I believe he already plays only 12-15 games for Gloucester in a year - and that’s for a side that can slog him week in week out.
Great work by his agent, poor, VERY poor from Dragons.

Indeed Ffidel - spot on. Our reluctance was before his 2nd injury breakdown. Reluctance based on the fact that he was more of a 6 than an 8. I rate North highly but we have an exciting stable of young players emerging and a big need for some tough, carrying forwards which means going for North would not be good business.
