Wasps increased their turnover from £21.4m to £30.9m during the first full season in Coventry, but still reported an operating loss of £3.8m after the cost of salaries at the Ricoh shot up by £5m to £17.4m.

The group that owns Premiership rugby club Wasps, who play their home games at Coventry's Ricoh Arena, has slashed its pre-tax losses, according to new figures.

Newly filed accounts with Companies House for Wasps Holdings have revealed that the group made a pre-tax loss of £3.7m in the year to 30 June 2017, down from £9.3m in 2016.

The documents have also confirmed that PwC, during its auditing enquiries, was presented with evidence which was revealed to have been falsified. Following the presentation of PwC's findings, the board conducted a review of its financial processes, systems and controls across the group. The directors have said this was an "isolated instance" and "consider that the measures put in place provide additional controls to prevent such an occurrence."

The group, which also owns the Ricoh Arena and a netball team, announced its turnover for the year, a rise from £30.9m to £33.6m, in December 2017."

Dai has never been averse to stepping in & taking more workload on himself, could be that he’s doing the same again – his bond with Wasps is strong.

It could well be a cash thing, then, as you suggest. Young would no doubt be able to do a good job as forwards coach - but would he be over-stretching himself?

Well I don't think the SRU will be out of pocket too much, if at all, as Ulster are desperate to get Dan McFarland released early so they will be paying compensation.

Sorry - I was referring to Wasps' cash situation, not the SRU... should have been clearer.

No I know what you were getting at, I was just saying that the SRU could command pretty much any fee so they can give a good compensation amount to Wasps who will gladly accept.

Blues need a decent second row to pair with Seb (or find a way to keep Earle fit) and they'll have a good pack next year.

Peter Thomas is to step down as chairman of the Cardiff Blues and write off the millions of pounds he has put into the region over the years.

The 75-year-old will stay on the board and take up the role of life president, but a new chairman will be appointed within the next 12 months.

Sounds like something big may be coming up there-huge potential as well in the city with all the commercial opportunities all around. Its appalling that they haven got it right with all that innate advantage in commercial/retail/population etc...

Montpellier are signing Levan Chilachava from Toulon instead;I think the Blues have got the better signing there.

Watch this space !!!!

I have heard that there are a number of moneyed people in Cardiff who are prepared to put money into the Blues, bu are not prepared to do so whilst Peter Thomas in involved.

This may be a compromise position, which will allow/encourage those potential investors to get involved.

Have to say that sounds like a handy excuse to me.. If I had enough money to fund a player signing or help the Scarlets, I wouldn't not do it because Doug Perkins sold me a cheap pair of glasses.

That whole area in and around CAP and the national stadium is worth a fortune in real estate.

I can see a big property deal in the offing and the blues playing in a purpose built stadia in the next decade
