Very interesting. I'm guessing he'll rest cawdor, shingler, Barcaly, Ken, Rob, Steff, Parkes and HP

Where have you read/seen his press release?
BBC Sport Wales tweeted it.

The announcement that he is going to rest around 9 returning Internationals will change the selection somewhat. I think we'll see :-

15. Tom 14. Varndell 13. Asquith 12. Steff H 11. Steff E 10. Rhys 9. Jonathan
1. Dylan 2. Ryan 3. Werne 4. Bulbring 5. Cummins 6. Beirne 7. Cubby 8. Josh.

Bench 16. Emyr 17. Phil 18. Simon 19. Lewis 20. Will 21. Aled 22. Dan 23. Ioan

Just out of interest, in our 2 (arguably) biggest games of the season we had Rhys at 15 & Dan at 10. With that in mind, does anyone think that we might start with Rhys at 15 & Dan at 10 for Munster? Or do we think it will be Halfpenny at 15 & Rhys at 10 for La Rochelle?

Your point is totally valid. I keep coming back to the fact that Rhys sees himself as a 10. He was only selected at 15 because the other two options were not available. With Tom Williams now showing he is a 3rd option I don't see Rhys playing 15 unless the 3 other options are unavailable.

Furthermore the next few months are a huge opportunity for Rhys and other Scarlet Welsh players to really push their cases for selection for the World Cup. The 10 shirt is up for grabs and even Gatland & his merry men cannot ignore match winning performances in top play off matches in the pro 14 & Europe - can they??????

I agree GPR, it will be interesting as. I do think it will be tough on Dan, however I guess that is what being a top team & having a competitive squad is all about.

Rhys is so key to us and our attacking which we will need against La Rochelle that I think he may well be rested this weekend

Yes Dan is in a position where he has a number of important improvements he needs to make before he will push Rhys hard for the starting spot. Defensively he is still very hit and miss & this is his main weakness. He has the kicking game to be a top 10 and he has a good passing game. If he keeps working hard on his game as Rhys has done since joining us then he will get there.

Competition is the lifeblood of successful sides. No one player can rest on their last performance. We have seen it in recent seasons - Steff improving & taking the shirt off DTH a proven International; Asquith being selected over Hadleigh for a key game; even a huge player like Barclay is feeling the heat from McLoud & Rob from Wyn. Our squad will improve next season on the back of the continuing improvements our young, home grown in the main, lads are making. It is a very enjoyable time to be a Scarlet.

Selection for Munster will be really interesting, even if Pivac is going to rest 9 internationals - but Patch needs to be sharpened up for the Quarter-final, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him start at 10 this weekend. Unless the coaches are thinking a different approach will work for a cup match against La Rochelle...

Good idea from Pivac to cleanse any bad habits picked up at the Vale

Dragons have named all their international in the team for the Cheetahs game tomorrow evening. Hallam Amos then heads off to the Gold Coast, as do Angus O'Brien and James Benjamin, who are not named for tomorrow.

Dragons: Zane Kirchner; Ashton Hewitt, Sam Beard, Connor Edwards, Hallam Amos; Arwel Robson, Sarel Pretorius; Sam Hobbs, Elliot Dee, Lloyd Fairbrother, Joe Davies, Cory Hill (capt), Harrison Keddie, Aaron Wainwright, Lewis Evans

Replacements: Ellis Shipp, Gerard Ellis, Dan Suter, Max Williams, Taine Basham, Dan babos, Adam warren, Jared Rosser

Our own Morgan Williams is also in the 7s squad, and Tomi Lewis travels as reserve.

Wales Commonwealth Games 7s squad: Luke Treharne, Morgan Williams, Angus O'Brien, Luke Morgan, Owen Jenkins, Tom Williams, Ethan Davies, James Benjamin, Adam Thomas (C), Justin Tipuric, Hallam Amos, Benjamin Roach

Reserves: Tomi Lewis, Harri Millard

Is that also our Tom Williams in the sevens squad?- there is no profile of a Tom Williams in the WRU 7s Squad to find out. Hope not we need him against Munster.

This Tom Williams, like his namesake Morgan, is from gogledd Cymru, now attached to Swansea & Ospreys + Wales 7s.

Dragons last chance of a win this season, maybe? Cheetahs don’t travel well but something has to give.

Difficult TV viewing choice tomorrow night with Connacht v Edinburgh on BBC Alba an alternative to BBC2 Wales
