Plenty of debate about safe standing at football grounds in England and Wales. Got me thinking about if we could maybe trial it somewhere at the Parc.

For me personally, the view on our north terrace isnt good, the elevation is dissapointing. yeah yeah bring on the short jokes.

But seriously. sitting is widely acknowledged as being an atmosphere killer. I sat in the Town end for the La Rochelle game, and whilst the whole ground in general was rocking that day, the singing in the Town end was disjointed at best. It could have been so much better.

I would love us to trial it in one of the end goal stands. To maybe replicate the old Pwll end atmospheres.

Or maybe if we face another need to increase capacity, to put safe standing in at the increased capacity instead of just temp seating.

I think its worthy of discussion.

I think it would be worth doing purely as a pr excersize as it would generate lots of media attention from all over the uk.

I'd be all for it. Take out first row of seating even, put up a small barrier in front of row 2, then dig down a bit to get the eye at pitch level. Nothing better. I am guessing they might not be able to do it due to some H&S rule. But getting nearer the pitch with eye at pitch level standing area is the best!

Doesn't need changing. That's why the stadium was built with the North Enclosure.

Terrace tickets dont keep up with demand for the bigger games, safe standing allows the club to have seats or standing as they see fit. it would also solve the capacity problem we have on hc games.

The more I think about this the more convinced I am that this would be perfect for the Parc.

The terrace is rarely full.
Whilst I agree with the atmosphere generated by the standing crowd will always be better. You're naturally more energised on your feet, my kids and wife probably wouldn't come without seats. If they gave up coming, I'd consider a terrace ST, if it wasn't for all the soakings I used to get sat in the front row of N19 when my seat was there!
We're still still here!

I find that the elevation gets better towards the corners of the pitch in the north enclosure, or it's horizontally closer at least. I used to stand near halfway but was pushed out to the end one Ospreys game when it was full and I haven't moved back since. This gives an idea of my view:

I agree, would be good for PR reasons if anything.

I love the existing standing area so not sure we need safe standing elsewhere in the ground - unless the whole north stand became a combo of standing and then safe standing above. That’d make a racket!

Aside, I wrote to WRU/Millenium stadium a few years ago as I reckon they should put safe standing in that North stand there, the ratio is 10 seated to every 19 safe-standers - so it makes sense financially but I got a H&S “not interested” response.

At least they responded. Quite surprised they did.

I think my point has been lost on most here.

I am talking about behind the goals.

If we plan to be succesful in future our capacity could do with edging up over the 15k. Safe standing would seem like a very very cost effective way of achieving this, as well as amping the atmos up a bit.

Good point Speedy. If they were seats except when we needed 15k the problem would be what you'd do if someone had a ST for a seat and that seat would go for such games - but not a problem which couldn't be got over though as long as it was clear in the terms when you signed up for your ST

Do you really mean safe standing Speedy, or just more terracing?

Safe standing involves rail seats.

These can be locked or released as needed.

So if you want the seats down, or if the rules of the competition require seats down, this is possible.

But the seats can be locked in an upright position, so that you then have the rails to control the standing crowd.

Introducing safe standing would be a major financial investment for little gain, seeing as we already offer a standing option at the ground.
