Good luck to the boys especially the RFC members and looking forward to the home game v Hartpury next weekend ( Hartpury are always associated in my mind as one of the "poachers" of young Welsh talent as they tempt them over the border with scholarships and who knows, they may end up in the English pathway then! Call me an old cynic mind Embarrassed

It's a shame that the fixtures have put both teams away the same weekend.

Still no sign of Dan Jones. Surely he's not rated as 5th choice now?

Scarlets' young guns will get their British & Irish Cup campaign underway on Saturday afternoon at Banbridge RFC as they take on Ulster A in the opening round of the competition.
Llandovery RFC Head Coach Euros Evans heads up the Premiership Select coaching team ably assisted by Carmarthen Quins head coach Richard Kelly, Llanelli RFC's Paul Fisher and Dai Flanagan.

The region will field an exciting blend of young homegrown talent who currently ply their trade in the Principality Premiership under the leadership of Scarlets centre Steff Hughes.

23-year-old Hughes has made 30 appearances for the Scarlets senior side, was a member of the first Welsh Under 20s side to reach a Junior World Championship final in 2013 and captained Wales Under 20 in 2014.

Adding experience to the backline alongside Hughes is Welsh international winger Tom Prydie and former 7s star Rhys Jones at outside half. Scrum half Declan Smith partners Jones at halfback with Morgan Williams taking up his position at fullback. Scarlets have named two teenagers in their starting line-up in winger Ryan Conbeer and centre Ioan Nicholas.

Scarlets Academy loosehead prop Rhys Fawcett and Scarlets tighthead Javan Sebastian are joined in the front row by RGC 1404's hooker Evan Yardley. Llandovery's Jack Jones and Stuart Worrall, who both add experience to the pack, join the region's exciting young loose forwards Josh Helps, Shaun Evans and Jack Condy.

Scarlets Premiership Select Head Coach Euros Evans said; "Ulster A is a tough opening challenge for this group but having said that this is the level that these boys need to be playing at not only to prove themselves but also to prove that they're ready to take the next step and play regularly for the senior side at Parc y Scarlets.

"Despite having quite a young squad for the British & Irish Cup challenge the majority of this group of players were involved in the competition last season and are now a year older and have experience under their belts, with that our expectations rise aswell with what is expected from them.

"Bringing a combined group together is never logistically easy, our training preparation time has been limited however the majority of these boys are professionals who train with the region's senior squad day in and day out and will be prepared for the challenges ahead in this competition."

Scarlets Premiership Select side to take on Ulster A at Banbridge RFC, Saturday 14th October, kick-off 2.30pm;

15 Morgan Williams, 14 Tom Prydie, 13 Ioan Nicholas, 12 Steff Hughes ©, 11 Ryan Conbeer, 10 Rhys Jones, 9 Declan Smith, 1 Rhys Fawcett, 2 Evan Yardley (RGC 1404), 3 Javan Sebastian, 4 Josh Helps, 5 Jack Jones (Llandovery), 6 Stuart Worrall (Llandovery), 7 Shaun Evans, 8 Jack Condy

Replacements: Matthew Moore (Llandovery), Steff Thomas (Scarlets Academy), Lewis Ellis-Jones (Scarlets Academy), Dan Davis (Scarlets Academy), Alex Schwarz (RGC 1404), Jack Maynard, Billy McBryde

Backline looks good. Pack not so sure about.
Looking forward to hear how Morgan Williams, Conbeer, Fawcett, Helps, Shaun Evans and Condy go.
Anyone know where Daf Hughes, Taylor Davies, Corey Baldwin, Tom Phillips are?

Our problem with changes in teams in regional set up is how to best tactically mitigate against just being a scratch side compared to our competitors . Coaching challenge to say the least. Good luck at the weekend lads.
