Will Boyde started 10 games at 7 between September & November, and has started 6 games at No8 since then.

Josh Mcleod has started 4 games at No8 all season, plus 1 at 7, but they've only started 2 games together - in the most recent (vs Leinster at Home last month), Will was No8.

Oh okay I just presumed that MacLeod was an 8
come through as a 7 but seen long term as an 8.

We have plenty of strength in depth since we're able to field a team of this standard and leave out so many Welsh internationals and even a British & Irish Lion in Ken Owens.

Big opportunity for some youngsters and for Tom Varndell to show his experience.

Some interesting questions posed by this selection.
Where’s Tom Williams?
Does a good Varndell performance put him in the frame for the semi?
Straight shoot out between MacLeod and Boyde for the bench spot?

Looking forward to seeing Conbeer, Helps, Shaun Evans, Baldwin and Rogers too.

I’m glad to see we’ve rested our first 15.

Is Tom Williams injured, or is he pencilled in for the right wing spot v Leinster?

When we last played Edinburgh at Murrayfield we lost without even getting a losing bonus point. It's a tough place to get a losing bonus point let alone a draw let alone a win IMO.

Considering its a 2nd team it looks competitive...especially the pack, the main concern may be dylans scrummaging atm...halfbacks solid
backline is a bit higgledy piggledy ioan at centre is unusual though he used to play there a lot ...hopefully conbeer . varndell will show some magic  and steff hughes too...rhys jones at 15 ahead of tom and morgan williams? I guess rhys has far more experience..Its a great chance for one of these threequarters to raise their hands for selection next week where we have the other wing and a bench spot up for grabs

Morgan Williams is away on the Gold Coast but I am surprised that Tom Williams hasn't been given a chance unless, of course, he is earmarked for the 14 shirt next week. Only 1 starter for next week named. Probably the whole bench for next week playing.

Anything other than a losing bonus point defeat would be encouraging. Ioan at centre is his normal position with the 20's. I am hoping that Conbeer has a stormer scoring a couple of wonder tries and defending well so he gets the 11 shirt next week with Steff moving over to 14 & giving Mr Lowe plenty to think about!!!!!

Somebody posted that after recent tests his shoulder is not deemed to be strong eneough and needs more rehab. Probably out for remainder of season.

Tanking on the cards imo. Edinburgh will want five points and give us nothing. All on the Dragons game then.
Keep the faith

I'll be honest, I have never heard of Tom Rogers. Looking him up, Wales U18. What's his skillset like - pros and cons? Cheers.

It's important to see the bigger picture here. To have strength in depth over the longer term our squad players need development opportunities and the experience of being up against decent times. The circumstances provide that opportunity. The team selected will benefit from game time and as a result will eventually bring more quality to the squad.

Tom Rogers was in the 20's squad this year. FB or wing with good gas and well built. One for the future most definitely.
