Indeed. I am also very worried about Javed at this level. He just doesn’t look fit and conditioned although the jerseys aren’t very flattering ! He must at least scrum well. He’s big enough . Hope he proves me wrong mind

I think we could have all said the same about a certain Simon Gardiner many years ago in a European match away in France & he had the game of his life, hopefully the same can be happen for Javan.

I'd assume that Cubby is on the bench to change things if required. The starting pack are as big as we can muster to answer their forward power.

There is a real feeling of optimism around at the moment based on what has happened off the pitch in the past six months  This is the game to turn that into something more tangible. It is very important for Delaney and his coaches and for many of our WQ players. With the other regions not playing particularly well, there are real opportunities for promotion into the national set up.

Most of all good luck to Tyler on his first Scarlet outing. The lad is a real talent and hopefully he can make an impression.

Yes I agree in that sense. Sim although was a known top scrummager from his youth and then didn’t seem to keep well conditioned when he rejoined us but he still had that excellent scrumming ability. I hope I’m wrong and Javed smashes it -props seem to come in all shape and sizes !

TBH a little underwhelmed not see Sanj, Rob, Foxy, Kruger and Patch in there. Absolutely no disrespect to those that are starting, they wont let us down.

Aren't these guys still injured? Delaney said a few days ago that Sanjay and Patch would not be ready; Foxy was a possible, but either not deemed quite ready, or not risked. Rob still recovering from neck surgery.

The only one who is 100% fit - as far as I know - is Werner, so that is a surprise. Perhaps Javon is a better scrummager, and that was a consideration? I don't know.

I think our pack is stronger than our back-line.

surprised not on bench as its going to be brutal up front unless looking at the bench we are aiming to run them off the park

Non-selection of Cassiem is the  biggest surprise for me - he has been superb over the last 12 months or so. Our new 8 is bigger, and improved on his debut - but did give some soft penalties away, which he'll need to avoid v Toulon. Also, is Blade fully fit? He's not figured yet this season.

I'd have definitely had Cassiem in the 23, if fit.

Agreed , would pick Cassiem as a starter before Blade all day long given Blade has not played

No secret as to how we intend to play with that selection. Toulon on the other hand will be looking to slow the game down. Expect to see scrums going down and lots of stoppages due to 'injuries' tomorrow. Ken will need to be in the ref's ear. Hopefully Blade and Rawlins can provide us with off the top, back of the line-out ball that we can launch attacks from. Turnover ball, also key.

Our skill levels need to be high, dont need a lot of scrums. If we are sharp and we can keep their big forwards moving around the pitch we could win this last 20. Fingers crossed.

Blade is one of the first names on the team sheet when fit.

Cassiem is our 2nd choice 8, and he's an out an out 8.
There's a possible case for his inclusion on the bench, but with Macleod able to cover 8 and Rawlins 4/5/6 it's a perfectly legitimate call to have Rawlins and Cubby on the bench in my view.

I think they were all close to be able to play, that's where I'd pinned my hope. Particularly on Sanjay and Foxy starting, and Kruger and Rob on the bench.

Great side, great squad. With such depth someone is always going to have to miss out unfortunately. Uzair Cassiem has impressed in the Challenge Cup though with 69 carries, the second highest total in the competition. Over to you Sione.

Yet to be impressed with Blade in a scarlet shirt (though there haven't been many of those). Looking forward to seeing how he goes tomorrow. Kennedy and Cassiem have both being doing well, so interesting selection.
I expect Foxy is being kept in cotton wool for the Autumn friendlies. It will be a good test for the centre pairing selected. Hope they seize their opportunities.
