A team out of our injured players plus those not selected could give this 23 a run for their money, fair play.

Let's hope the lightweight(ish) approach works.

Rawlins also allows the luxury of picking a specialist openside in Cubby on the bench, turnovers will be key to our chances over 80.

TBH a little underwhelmed not see Sanj, Rob, Foxy, Kruger and Patch in there. Absolutely no disrespect to those that are starting, they wont let us down.

Yeah our backline is pretty good, but not world class.

I've got a good feeling about this one.

No worries on Javan - can’t remember what game last year but was outstanding. Ready enough and fired up to impress I’m sure.

Agree- and in any case we should trust Ben Franks and his judgement. And if Ben can get a big step from Javan then that is worth Ben's salary on its own.

Good point. Javan must be learning something from Franks, surely.

Surely, our pack is about as big as it could be? The new 8 in place of Cassiem - surprising to me and many others, but he's bigger. Macleod and Blade on the flanks. The only pick that could have made the forwards bigger would have been to have someone heavier instead of Cubby, I think.

With the injuries I am happy with selection. Pace will be key to this - play at tempo and we can crack them but our skills will have to be top notch. Blade is an outstanding player and he gives us what Aaron does - athletic lineout operator and excellent support player with good offloading skills. His selection tells me that Delaney sees us having to play an adventurous game. Of course I would have liked to see Patch, Foxy & Liam involved but they are not deemed fit so lets get on with it.

With regard to the selection of Javan it is time for him to make an impression. He is a good footballer and if his conditioning has improved he can go well. The introduction of Elias, Rawlins and Cubby will give us huge tempo momentum and if we are still in the fight an opportunity to seal it.

This is a match to play like Japan style. We should be able to play an high tempo rugby, keep attention on tactical kicking game and blitz defence.
Im optimist about Javan, it s his occasion to high level rugby. He can do good...

I, like others, am surprised and a tad disappointed not to see Cassiem included. That said it does show us the strength in depth we have in the back row. Good luck Scarlets!
