Didn't he tip us to go all the way before the tournament started or did I just imagine that?

Stu barnes a bath man to his fingertips must have been smarting when he wrote this week "2. There were plenty of smiles on the western side of the Severn. Like England, Wales also have No 8 issues ahead of the Six Nations with Taulupe Faletau missing but the Scarlets and Ospreys brought the Principality some new year cheer with their efforts last weekend. In particular, Scarlets. They were stunning; back to their knock-out stage best of last season. Bath had some key men absent through injury but Scarlets were without their back three and Jonathan Davies. It didn't stop them overwhelming Bath with a brand of rugby their President, Phil Bennett, would have loved. Whereas the English side sought contact, the Welsh found space - and exploded into it. I always felt the weather as much as Bath beat them in round two. They will be hoping for clear skies when Toulon turn up in Llanelli on Saturday night for what is the game of round six. On form, and with home advantage, the Scarlets win but Toulon tend not to go down without a fight and will be scrapping tooth and nail for every point in what appears one of the tightest pool stages of them all.

He is, but he frequently applauds us - has done for years. No doubt we are his favourite Wesh team.

Barnes is prone to hyperbole whichever way the wind is blowing, and I initially read Guscott's pre-game piece as trying to take pressure off his own club (and put it on Scarlets by naming us outside favourites), but both love attacking mindsets, and have certainly been effusive in their praise of Scarlets' playing style. ClapClap

Your relatives/friends passed that info on, iirc. Is that right?

Still on a post-Bath high & pre-Toulon anticipation, I looked back at a number of pundits comments and predictions before the Rec was wrecked.

The message was consistent, and best summarised by Dallaglio and Healey on BT Sport - it'll be a tough game for Bath, but they'll have enough to stifle these upstart Welshies and their running rugby, and will top Pool 5 with a home quarter-final.

While some of the English/international commentary following the game has been highly complimentary (bordering on hyperbolic in some quarters), many have put it down to a below-par Bath performance. Even Jeremy Guscott, who was understandably disappointed/fuming that his old team had be so convincingly outplayed, laid the blame on the players and coaches.

But the Bath players and coaches, who will have known how the Scarlets play and will have prepared all week for it, now know very well what Leinster and Munster learned last May - that a motivated Scarlets side, even stripped of top players and reshuffled a day before the game, is now largely unstoppable.

Perhaps it's going to take victory over Toulon's French Foreign Legion to get the Anglo-centric commentators to realise that Scarlets have gone from plucky to unplayable - for that reason as much as any, I dearly hope we can make them sit up and enjoy eating their words on Saturday night.

Nobby, are you bringing your Bath supporting chauffeur again this week?

Maybe the Building Society and stadium can change names.

Just to help foreign perceptions.

Good to know.

TB did seem somewhat shellshocked in his post match interview.

What a fine win that was, if we do manage to make the quarter finals, the opposition side won't be happy to see us, capable of defeating any side in club rugby on our day.
