It is important to also put on record my gratitude for the manner in which Monday’s PRB meeting, my first, was conducted. All parties around the table share a common desire and outlook on how the five rugby ‘entities’ in Wales can collectively build on the outstanding achievements of the national team in recent weeks.

Glad that's all cleared up!!!

More like an under the carpet sweeping exercise, because the same issues face the game in Wales and the response is now more of the same.

Suspect it was just the public out workings of an internal bun fight within the Ospreys and their old Chairman thought one way ('lets merge as we cant keep on pumping in the cash') and he had a barny with the new Chairman internally and resigned at the start of the meeting and walking out ,more or less said 'to hell with it ,I am off and over to you Rob Davies-get your cheque book out' !

Its all very bizarre but all "good friends" again now it seems !

Huge shame the Scarlets were dragged into this though.

So what are all the different bodies?

Professional Rugby Board (PRB)
manages the pro game in Wales, with Chairmen of the 4 region and 2 WRU Execs

Welsh Rugby Players Association (WRPA)
represents the players, managed by Andries Pretorius, chaired by Ken Owens

......??

This in spades and have the blues had help to sign Adams and Amos from WRU bearing in mind they still owe Ospreys money for Thornton

assuming losing the wages of players like Smiler, Warburton, Nick Williams, Samu Manoa would have freed up a lot of wages.

We already get more from the WRU than the other regions due to the amount of players we supply to Team Wales. I think budgets are carrying on as normal at the moment. Don’t think it’s been finalised for us and blues to be the main funded sides yet.

According the western snail funding has risen to £10 million but ndc's are ending
theres also a story which strangely hasnt got much attention  the wru and building a huge 165 room hotel on westgate street (or rather converting the post office building into a hotel)

Thought Nick Williams had extended his contract at the Blues.

At least with NDC there was a bit of transparency in that we know what players were on them and what percentage the WRU paid.
The new system at the moment does not seem to have that nor is there any word on how teams will be compensated for having players on intl duty.
If it is the case they are not then that surely not a good way of attracting teams to sign Welsh intls.

It is stunning and I agree it will be in years to come...With the  wru turning the enormous post office building into a 165 room hotel on westgate street. This will tie up a lot of cash+they wont see a return for years. This plus the rise to £10 million regional funding must mean RGC region is on hold for several years. If revenues keep rising and if this hotel's lucrative+when WRU pay off their £6 million stadium debt then they may be in a better position to fund RGC as a 5th development region at first, by then they may be even stronger and ready to become a region with stronger squad and fan base and maybe some backers too. never say never.

It won't tie up a lot of cash as the redevelopment is funded by an insurance/investment company Legal and General. They won't have got involved unless the business plan was very sound. Let's face it, it's nigh on impossible to get a hotel in Cardiff on many weekends throughout the year.
I expect the WRU's income will be in the form of a ground rent paid by the hotel operator, which should be a fairly stable income.
