Was just looking ahead, looking at the HC fixtures & after our Home & Away double header with Ulster, the matches that follow are Ospreys (a), Blues (h), Dragons (h), Leicester (h), Racing (a) then Leinster (a). That is a brutal run of matches!!

They also seem to hold the home record very dear to them, even more so on occasions than the fans do.

Am I right in saying our last meaningful loss at home was Bath? If so we win Saturday we are a year unbeaten at home in all meaningful competitions and over two years in the league. That is one hell of a record. Is there any other team in Europe who can match that? And before anyone mentions it, I do not count that AngloWelsh malarkey as a meaningful competition.

Good interview with The Sheriff about what this season in Europe means to Pivac and the team.

Good post. I'll have to miss this one - it's my 70th birthday, and one daughter could only make it this weekend - but it would be a great present if the Scarlets could do the job against Racing ...a as a former Paris resident (said daughter was born there) I'd like to go over in January for a decider, with both to qualify for the knock out stages.

It is a very good record. Combined would be hard to beat. Leinster certainly have a wonderful record for a season but we beat them in the League the season before & their Heineken form that season was poor. Racing lost at home last week. Saracens are one of the other top teams. I don't know waht their Premiership unbeaten reord is but they lost at home last season to Clermont so their Heineken is no better than ours. Safe to say we are up there with the best at home.

With the right draw, I think Exeter could go very far.

Yes they are a quality side and will pose a serious problem in any quarter final. From my point of view I think the winners will come from a select few teams - Leinster, Munster, Saracens, Racing, Montpelier & Scarlets.

I agree but I don't think Munster are serious contenders. They'll give teams bother at home but I think they'll struggle away and can't see them topping a group with Exeter and Castres in it. I'd swap them for Toulon, they've still got a very strong squad. Having said that Beirne hasn't hit his straps for them yet and they have Conor Murray to come back.

Preview and predictions by Jamie Heaslip, Ugo Monye and the BBC's Chris Jones - all bigging up Leinster and Racing, with Exeter, Sarries and Montpellier as next bets.
Scarlets don't get a look in, other than Hadleigh Parkes getting a mention as one of 5 'Players to Watch', and that's fine - let them doubt us and take us for granted while we slide in under the radar. Pivac's plan for this season may have been, in part, forced by the departure of Barclay and Beirne, and injuries to our other more mobile back-row turn-over specialists, but he also wants to move Scarlets' game on to stand up to the Big Boys like Leinster on their own terms. That subtle tweak in strategy is taking a little time to bed in fully, but will pay dividends against Europe's finest, and we still have the most potent attacking threat in the competition. It starts on Saturday against one of the top two fancied opponents... |

Yeah we can harpoon one of many pundits early favourites. Blowing the form book out of the water from day one.
