A bit surprised at North coming into the 13 ahead of Sanjay. Other than that not unexpected. Didn’t think Anscome did enough to stay in the squad but there we are. Helluva task ahead!

I think it is down to match fitness to be honest. |

Same again, then?
Seems fair enough - the boys certainly performed v Scotland. (I didn't realise the team was being announced so early this week, BTW.) Ah - didn't spot George on the bench - he played 80 min last week, Sanjay yet to have game time, so that is presumably the explanation.

Hasn’t Sanjay played more this season? Granted North has played more recently. |

Just a query. Could any of this be mindgames? Can Wales just change their squad at any time prior to kickoff?

I don't think that is what we're seeing here - only Hill is an injury doubt, and just think how Adams (for example) would feel if Gats told him on Thursday - "Josh - you're injured." Adams: "No, I'm not." Gats: "Yes, you are - tough!" Quite frankly, I don't think for a minute that sort of thing will happen.

Happy with coaches philosophy here. Don’t change a winning team! Well done Gatland .Credit where it’s due 👍

Josh picked up slight strain last week which is why they have opted for George over Owen as he provides wing cover, as well as cover for 13. |

Spot on selection, the boys did one hell of a shift last weekend against Scotland and their selections are well justified for sure!

Consistent selection policy is refreshing. Liam back to Sarries for the weekend another sensible move. Gatland already knows that the missing Lions would compete with England he will now get his chance to really see how good the new faces are. If we run England close then he will have added some great strength in depth ahead of the World Cup.
I still think Gatland's biggest challenge will be who does he pick at 10 when Biggar is fit. That will tell us all whether he really believes in the passing & offloading game as the way forward.

Fair enough - I didn't see that. he deserves to start again, if fit.

Biggar was bigging himself up again last week, saying he thought he'd be fit for Ireland (as if to say - I'll have my place back, thanks!). I think it'll depend on how Rhys and the team go against England, though we'd definitely have more chance of beating Ireland using the Scarlet method, as seen at the end of last season.

If I am honest, it wouldn't surprise me if that was something that was 'agreed' to get North on the bench without pissing off Owen. |

Team picked itself really, it would have been very unfair to drop any of the players barring an injury.
Make no mistake it'll take a mighty effort to topple the sais at HQ on saturday, i thought they played well against an italian team that was pretty competative for 60-65 mins, if the italian centre hadn't been called out over the forward pass it might have been a lot closer. Still a scary sight to see the orcs up the pace and go through the gears when they get a head of steam up, definately beatable though, the italians caught them out with looping pass's out wide that resulted in tries and they made a few line breaks that a team like wales would probably have finished off. |
