Pivac's chosen a side to run the ball and the last thing we need is an early succession of scrums and reset scrums. He's obviously hoping that his front row selection is powerful enough to avoid that, and by moving the ball around he can knacker a possibly more powerful and set-piece oriented Georgian 8. In the past we wouldn't have been worried about this but recent poor selections and performances hopefully mean that nothing is now being taken for granted. But if it's as wet later on in Llanelli as it is in Cardiff now, it's not going to help.

Quick tangential comment as you mention tiring out a bigger pack, I do think reducing the number of substitutions in rugby would make a big different to entertainment, particularly in NH rugby. It's what, 7 allowed now? That's almost half your side. League has four allowed, so that would be five in Union, which seems a much better ratio.

League are allowed multiple switches though ?12?

Our league winning team had a pair of lightish locks in Tadhg and Rawlings behind a powerful front row. If your front row is big enough and your locks strong enough, it is a way to go.Β

Ah so players go off and come back on then? Even so, I still think worth looking at. As Jones says having exceptions for HIA would work as well.Β

It works in league due to there being no real scrums and no lineouts , remember the controversy in the France game with the injured prop , with league subs France would of been able to do that legitimately

Very disappointing so far. Lucky we’re only playing Georgia.

After watching England v Ireland this is so much more turgid and lacking in skill.  England should fancy 50 points against us.

Wainwright is not good enough at this level.

Tompkins defensive positioning is so poor. I think our Steff Hughes has a better skillset.

Good to remind the two Irish ARs, Frank Murphy and Andrew Brace that the home team can win at PyS.

Webb still looks off the pace, imo.
