Captain Phil ‘Bam’ Day and utility back Sam Soul will celebrate their 100th appearances for the Drovers when they face Aberavon on Saturday.

Both players have been key to the Drovers’ success over the last 3 seasons.

Coach Lyndon Lewis highlights the impact that both players have had on the squad: "Both Phil and Sam stand for everything that is good about our current squad - they are both committed, down to earth, hard working, and keep themselves in a top physical state so that they can meet the demands expected to keep the Drovers in the top end of the Premiership. Both players are extremely coachable and intelligent, and can therefore adapt to changes in game plans etc."

Both players have committed their future towards the Drovers and signed for another season. Phil will also link in with the Scarlets next season, following in the footsteps of Emyr Phillips, Adam Warren, Kieran Murphy and Rhodri Williams.

Both boys are products of Bishop Gore School and Mumbles Juniors in Swansea and were identified by the Drovers’ team manager Andrew Thomas when they were playing in division 3 following their stint in Youth rugby.

Sam has been a regular wing and centre for the Drovers since arriving at Church Bank at the start of the 2008-9 season. His first of 23 tries came in only his second game, a pre-season match against Llangennech, and since then he has averaged 5 tries a season.

Phil has reached his 100 in only four seasons with the Drovers - he joined the team in October 2010 and plays both at second row and flanker. He was appointed team vice-captain in 2012-13, stepping up to captain when Lloyd Phillips suffered a long-term injury, and has continued to fulfil the captain role superbly this season.

Our congratulations to Phil and Sam on joining the Drovers’ 100 Club.
