It's not so much from the point of view of players needing a rest now, more the amount that will be required of them in the next two games and the need to get critical players into those match day squads.

To lose our only option at 8 before a critical game against saints and racing would be suicide, we also need to rest some other critical players (people will have their own opinions on who these are) and use the depth of our squad.

Winning in Leinster would be very good indeed but how many would back is to do that and at what cost.

Pivac has already identified the need to rest DTH and Samson, I'm hoping he does the same for a few more

And another thing. Let's hope it's a GOOD GAME because even though we've won 6 games there's no hiding the fact that they have been rubbish games. No wonder we can't get a tidy crowd down there. Have you seen how many comps are being dished out Shocking. It's got to be good to watch lads or everyone will be swapping over to watch Strictly or Emmerdale or whatever other shit that's on.

Much better...glad your upping your game after abysmal run of late...you are the Donald Trump of Scarlet Fever sir.

Diolch MWPC, bet you'd love to see a good game. Wonder when I'll come? Maybe Friday.

Good man. That news will lift the team all by itself. Nothing better to bring out the best in players than true supporters making the effort to go to Ireland for a Friday night game.

An away game in Leinster is always a big game, I remember when we won 52-23 at the RDS a few years ago now, we need to perform like we did then!, we are top of the league and have the chance to extend our lead over the other Welsh regions, don't need much more incentive to get the win. We've got to go for our strongest XV, none of this resting nonsense.

15. Aled Thomas
14. Tom Williams
13. Regan King
12. Hadleigh Parkes
11. Harry Robinson
10. Steven Shingler
9. Gareth Davies

1. Rob Evans
2. Ken Owens
3. Peter Edwards
4. Jake Ball
5. Lewis Rawlins
6. Aaron Shingler
7. James Davies
8. John Barclay

That team should be good enough to beat Leinster in what will be an incredibly tough game.

Yup, that'd be my team too. I'd have Aled on the bench to cover 9 too.

I'd also pick that team, apart maybe for starting Phil John - is Rob over his ankle twist?

Unlike some, I don't think this is the game to start new or inexperienced players - Collins, etc. - who haven't had the chance to fit in with the team yet. We need to go to the RDS looking for a win, with a losing BP the very least we expect.

If we rest too many then we risk getting a stuffing like last year, which IMO would be a massive set back to what the team has thus far accomplished. Just don't want it coming back to biting us on the rear at the end of the season.

The other way to look at it is that if we go fully loaded and take a hiding, then that will be really devastating.
Also, we have Europe starting, so I would rest up our main guns, and give the squad players a go.

Would not risk our back row or centres, as if these guys get injured, then we would really suffer further down the line.

Even if we get 6 from 7, and perhaps a bonus point on Friday, then that would be great.

We took a hiding out there last season, so do not need that again.

A weakened team for Leinster away is madness

Its amazing to see Regan King playing 80 mins week in, week out and still looking fresh. We're obviously managing him really well, Phil John too.

I'd be tempted to rest Regan King and John Barclay for this game. Barclay especially as he's our first choice no.8 at the moment as well as being the only fit cover we have for open-side if Cubby was to get injured.

Plus it would give Jack Condy a chance to develop.

Our full strength side (minus injuries) needs at least one runout together before the EC, so this has to be it.

Personally I like the way pivac rested players for a home game against weaker opposition and think that's the way to go. By resting players when we travel to the better teams we are employing a very defeatest attitude and throwing games. By resting players against weaker sides at home we are challenging our youngsters and squad players to lift their game in favourable conditions.

Sustaining our slim resources is a difficult challenge...we failed last season and sent a much weakened and pretty knocked about team up to Leicester.

No. Both equally important and both require full strength.

Our resources are not as slim as a year or 2 ago, its just this cataclysmic injury list that's holding us back

Agreed Roy- basically it's only at second row and 10 that we can't afford any more injuries,-although we could do with Pitman or Allen to recover enough to cover 8 on the bench.
