Shhh.. or the Ospreys will want to start playing their home games in Amsterdam, with season ticket holders getting 10% off the cost of a ticket or a free can of Heineken. |

People from the Netherlands are huge I’m 6’1” and feel quite tall in Wales but went to Amsterdam and that was average, with lots of people towering over me.
This could well be a breeding ground for second rows if they start taking a real interest in Rugby.

Scarletabroad believes that being "only 6ft 5in" is an issue. As 157cb said the way Wil Evans plays is similar to the way Jake Ball plays, and 6ft 5in is plenty tall enough for that. In fact being taller would only be an advantage in the lineout - for carrying, tackling, scrummaging it's actually a hindrance - the lower your centre of gravity is the better. Even in the lineout we have seen the likes of a light and agile Tipuric being used extensively, his lack of bulk making him easier to lift higher. So long as we have one or two other players who are either tall or like Tipuric then it's more important to have another dynamic carrier in the side.

The Saffer we have on the coaching staff is built like the proverbial external convenience.

Unfortunately the height is a fact. Having seen all of his college and scarlet games he does have the potential to do very well. He is the height of most back row. |

Give me a 6’4” with grunt as my No4 any day. Leave the tall stuff to 5/6.

And at 1m 70cm I feel dwarfed by everyone, well nearly everyone. But I never got to play in the pack. (Thank goodness)

The Netherlands has officially the tallest people in the world (on average): |

Very encouraging posts wrt youngsters coming through the system, and good to know that most (or all?) have a connection to Llanelli. We seem to have done outstanding work in recent years developing hookers and scrum halves (especially), plus a good few backs and occasional props - but second rows have been comparatively scarce. Hope they make it to the top level.

To those watching these games, and who have a better eye for talent than I do ( 157, Dai, Hoppy, Townboy etc) please cast an eye on Callum Woolley. A winger from Cardigan ( Aberporth to be precise).
6’3, and seemingly built for speed, but a recent Wendyball convert who’s had limited rugby ( has a sporting pedigree and a real thirst and willingness to learn i.e. good attitude). |
