This is literally how stupid politics of the UK - well, England - is. There are legitimate comments that much of the UK's public services are now starting to fall apart. Or certainly in a downward trajectory. I have serious doubts that any of our politicians are able to fix it either and we need substantial political reform.

'Disaster capitalism'

This is the Capitalist way. They underfund public serviecs and wreck them, then outsource the work to private companies who have probably lobbied Ministers for this course of action in the first place. We then get a 'smaller' state.

In his resignation speech, BoJo referred to Darwin. Survival of the fittest is their mantra. Do we really want to see the weak in our society suffer and die ????

I thought that the UK was a better place than that.

Nadhim Zahawi is proposing 20% cuts to every department (including health and social care) to fund tax cuts. On the other hand this is the testimony of an NHS doctor (bottom half of the article). On what planet are the Tories living if they think that tax cuts for anyone other than the poorest in society is a priority right now.

So far 11 ministers have put themselves in the running to become PM.  It’s hilarious that they all supported raising taxes in the commons but 75% of them are now suggesting that a vote for them would be a vote for lower taxes.
The digging for armo on your competition has well and and truly started and the press are having a field day building up their preferred candidates and digging up the dirt on their lesser preferred candidates.
It will be interesting if when it’s whittled down to 2 candidates whether labour voters will all of a sudden become Tory party members in order to affect the outcome (just as was alleged to have happened with the Jeremy Corbin vote to become labour leader).

Sunak's bid to fix the economy made me chuckle.

The cleansing of the Tory party and a general election win I’m predicting.

Campbell always gets stroppy when anyone dare mention the Iraq war, the sheer brass neck of the guy preaching and moralising and calling out liars beggars belief ,after his sea of lies and warmongering

I though that the Tory member did do well, she was on politics live on Tuesday lunchtime and was very critical of BOJO and the way her party handled the past few months - so perhaps they have anyone left who believed that BOJO had done a good job and believed the the Tory party were on top of things and were in control to appear on QT (other than Jacob Rees Mogg or Conor Burns.
Campbell loves the sound of his own voice but often speaks a lot of sense, he isn’t afraid to hold labour to account either.

Quite right GPR..
They are all complicit in the whole shabby saga, dragging on long before partygate
I would go further than that, the Tory party ,as a whole knew very well what they were getting with Boris
He is a Maverick, who believes that rules apply to others, but not himself. a product of a privileged and entitled background. His arrogance , even now , today, was outrageous, for a disgraced leader !

Tories were happy when they was winning, and were quite happy to overlook Boris  failings.
Now inevitably, as his reckless style of leadership, has caught up with him, they want to "kick him out of the drivers seat. Someone should tell them, the car has already crashed.
They ,(the Tories), cannot therefore just point to Boris as the problem. By not acting sooner, they have been party to the total debasing, of common decency in public life .
The trust we have in those who govern us has been undermined .
I have no doubt Sunak and Javed jumped ship, before it sunk to save their political skin, and not for any other reason.
The welsh secretory, Simon Hart, was another who left it to the last minute , before telling Boris he should go. There were nauseating scenes in the media, of Hart attempting to defend Johnson, when clearly he should have been making a stand for what was right.
No moral compass, no backbone, another nodding dog and "yes-man"
Lets hope the electorate of Carmarthen West remember that.

Finally, how can this man, a corrupt, cheating liar, be allowed to remain in Downing St ???
In every other walk of life, he'd be out the door!!
The interest of the country  come first, not that of Boris Johnson, & the Conservative party.
He should go now, and a a caretaker , (his deputy Dominic Raab?) step in until a successor is elected.
Of course, what should really be happening now, bearing in mind the severity and nature of the current situation, is that a General Election should be called.
The Tories, of course, like turkeys, won't vote for Xmas !!
Lets hope however, "their Goose is cooked"

I stood yer on tanner bank

I wonder if the Tories will have anybody available to sit on the panel, and if they did, how happy would they (MP) be to be sent out to defend their record in recent weeks, and the fact that they still can fully get rid of the poison for a few months yet.

The candidates list is pretty grim

Llanelli's Bob Buckland just refused to rule himself out...
Bookies fave is ben wallace and dishy rishy , followed by mourdant , javed, raab, tugendaat, truss
then hunt (No chance) , zahawi the 24 hour chancellor who took the job and told his boss to quit lol , baker is only 12 to 1, braverman, shapps, brandon lewis long odds
Thankfully pritti patel is a rank outsider
odds closing on tony blair taking his rightful place as tory leader currently 40 to 1 lol

I doubt there’ll be any apology, signs of dignity or remorse.  He’ll probably be defiant as usual, trying to cling onto power until the autumn.

Spot on.
