Are the Dragons and Cardiff going to dominate Welsh rugby now that they have substantial new backers? Could we be left behind ? Ditto the Ospreys or, do these financial developments in the east make an O’s/Scarlets merger more likely ? Thoughts?

I have just posted on the BBC wales online sports thread ..re.. Dragons...that they are indeed lucky to be in business at all. All the regions have tasted failure in different degrees, but the Dragons turned it in to an "ART FORM". They have been awful for over 10 years, and needed WRU to bail them out. What kept them afloat, was their geographical location, because if the plug was pulled ,you would have huge areas of Wales ostracised , like the valleys. They are improving, and have beaten us, on judgement day twice in a row now, granted when we played poorly. For the sake of welsh rugby, I wish them well, but whether the new investment translates in to anything, remains to be seen. Don't think any development further east will have any impact ATM in the west

You might have said the same when the current Osprey owners came in. That's been a success, hasn't it?
However much money is put into Cardiff in the future, there are still fundamental problems in their relationship with the Athletic club and any new owners will do well to achieve half the commitment and devotion to the club that Peter Thomas did.

The Dragons being cut free from WRU dependency (at last) is the only thing of note in these developments ( thus far).
No one in their right mind (who expects to make a return/break even) would invest in pro rugby, never mind Welsh pro rugby. |

So now the dragons aren’t being funded by the WRU the money that the WRU pumped into them I assume will now be split between all the regions ??? Or will it go to soft furnishings for the hotel🤔
