I really think Dwayne has made a massive error by leaving us to go to Sale in the summer.

One of Sale's biggest games of the season is 2moz against Munster in Thomand Park and Peel is on the bench. He's been on the bench a number of times this season and hasnt played that many games at all, and with it being a Lions year you need to be exposed at the top level (HC) for a long period of time, not 20mins here and there. And with Phillips hitting form and Cooper looking sharp starting for Gloucester against the Blues i can see Dwayne not even being involved in the wales 22 man squad for the 6Nations. And if he's not having a sniff at the Wales 22, the Lions squad looks a long way away, when you consider the likes of Care, Reddan, O'Leary, Blair, Phillips,Foden (utility) and Cooper all battling for the Lions squad berth.

If he stayed with us, playing along side Stephen Jones and behind Lyons, his chances of starting for Wales and being selected for the Lions would have been increased massively. His class is there for all to see, but i think he made a mistake in moving away from the Scarlets. I just hope to one day see him back in a Scarlets jersey, hopefully not to long.

I was just going to post this exact same thing.

He hasn't played a full game of rugby for over a year.

You can't be in a Lions squad with that stat can you? Looks like Sale were going for strength in depth but they haven't had any injuries to scrum halves. so they've had to rotate. Apart from that Munster game, Peel has played very well when I've seen him. But 20 mins a week is just not enough. Massive shame, as its basicaly written his season off.

Imagine having to watch Wales at home, knowing you are fit and would love to be playing for your country against the Wallabies, and would have been selected but you're "not allowed" to play.

Ridiculous. He made the wrong decision.

In retrospect, it's definitely been a bad move and seriously dented his Wales place. Lets hope his career recovers from this dip.

At the time though, I don't think many here disagreed that a move to France/England was what was best for him at that stage but there were always questions over Sale as a choice. I know a Sale fan who was puzzled about it at the time - saying that Wigglesworth was a hot emerging talent and I remember being doubting him at the time that he'd keep Dwayne out his side! Exactly how it's turned out to be.

On the top of his game: world class. And I seriously hope he gets back there. And I seriously hope he does it with us. Imagine what Martyn can learn from Dwayne! Next season, I'd love him back, but there's more important areas where we need players first.

I always had the impression that it wasn`t a career move as such but more that he was running away. Let`s be honest about this, his overall form for the Scarlets had been pretty woeful for a couple of seasons. Stephen Jones was either catching the ball by his feet or a foot above his head. Opposition had also sussed out his quick tap and go`s and negated them pretty quick by throwing the ball away once a penalty had been awarded. I won`t mention his box kicking.

Sitting on the bench is the last thing he needs for his confidence and perhaps it would be best if he just admitted that he made a mistake and came back. His restaurant project has now had some hefty funding so perhaps a move back to us can`t be ruled out. When he is at the top of his game Dwayne is pure class. However, I don`t think it has since the 2004-05 season.

He's contracted for another season up there I think.

I can see him moving somewhere like the Blues to be honest.

To be fair to Dwayne, you never know how a move will work out until you've tried it. Better to at least try it, and then if it doesn't work out, you can at least say you've tried.

I don't doubt for a minute that Dwayne moved to try and better his career, and as it stands today, it doesn't look the case with Sale. Gutted for him really, but that's not to say things won't change for him over the coming season?

Fair do's to the guy for trying, he played some fantastic rugby with us, and we were sorry to see him go. If Sale doesn't work out for him, and he has to stay put until the end of his contract, then at the end of next season, who knows? especially if Martin Roberts doesn't flourish for some reason (I think he will though).

I agree with everyone else though about his move denting his International career heavily, and a Lions place! Cry

yeah well he decided to get out of the comfort zone at stradey. i`ll be honest, martin roberts deserves better. pell signed a massive 2 year contract with us just before stevo came back, but we saw nothing from him.

i like dwayne, he can be a world class sh on his day, and should be a shoe in for a test spot for the lions, but he just isn`t performing, he is living on the form of the last lions tour.

I reckon Foden will be on the Lions trip from what I've seen - massive talent who has been around a bit as well now, I just hope it isn't at the expense of Dwayne!

What, even if he doesnt start for Wales? Cause I reckon if Phillips has a good couple of games he's got the 9 shirt. So if Peel is game sharing at Sale, where is he going to be able to show his form?

O'Leary is my pick for Lions 9 at present, Foden gives you a good option from the bench.

With talk of a reduced touring squad, if Peel doesnt get a couple of starts with Wales, he could be struggling to make the tour.
