[QUOTE=reesytheexile]Our beloved Stevo has got off the hook / career stain on all this hasn’t he? Always seems a reasonable and grounded personality . Wisely perhaps kept well away from Ruddock gate over the years. [/QUOTE

Yes but no one should have a monopoly on sympathy everyone has issues problems to deal with. Thomas was given massive support and empathy. Sadly he and others showed no empathy to ruddock or gareth Jenkins

The wrecked the Ospreys, went to Scotland and did the same, and seems to have had similar “success” in Australia.

At long last the welsh press seem to be waking up to the fact that the WRU are and have been treating the regions appallingly with steve phillips being accused of a master and slave relationship with them, what better time for the 4 regions to make an united stand against them while they have the press onside.

Grass roots regional rugby supporters have known for years that the wru is nothing but a burden which hampers any prospects of regional success. We get back significantly less  than we put in.
I, and others, have said many times on this forum that if the regions are to be run as commercial entities then they cannot do it with one hand tied behind their backs - which is what the wru does.
Regions should be bold, and in their business interests, sever links with the wru as it currently stands and operates. A new set up is desperately needed, asap, if professional rugby in Wales is to remain competitive and survive.

Totally agree people say that we have to go through the union to compete well the league couldn't do without the welsh teams so it's time to stand up to the bully boys in westgate street.

But the underfunding of the pro game is catching up with them now. It was always going to take a while

playing devils afvocate here if the regions got handed £1,000,000 extra funding would they buy say 4 top nwq players? I wpuld if i were them  And if so how would that improve the test team?

Oh come on now it would improve the test team because younger players would be playing a higher standard of rugby and the culture would be better. Ask Justin Tipuric how much he learnt from Marty Holah or Sam Warburton Xavier Rush. Signing All Blacks, and Springboks is invaluable to developing players. How much will Morgan Jones and Jac Price learn from Fifita? A lot more than he would training with a middle of the road Welsh player. And I don’t know why you are using the word “handed”. The WRU don’t fund three of the four pro sides. They pay them for the services of their players. We have to get away from the handout narrative. It’s untrue
