The following was taken from Toulon's official Twitter feed posted a couple of hours ago, and has been translated using Google Translate.
CORONAVIRUS: THE LATEST INFORMATION RELATED TO THE ORGANIZATION OF THE MATCHESAfter a telephone meeting between the presidents of TOP 14, Pro D2, and the Management of the National Rugby League, the parties agreed to fix the scenario of the next matches (in camera or postponement) at a next general meeting exceptional which will take place this Monday March 16 in Toulouse.Pending this decision, the Toulonnais Rugby Club has decided to suspend sales of the RCT-Pau (originally scheduled for March 28) and RCT-Scarlets (originally scheduled for April 3) matches.Note that the restrictions related to the gathering of more than 1000 people concern the events that will take place before April 15, 2020.
Thus, the Rugby Club Toulonnais - Stade Toulousain match and the Fête du Rugby are not affected by this system. The ticket office obviously remains open for this event.8The Toulonnais Rugby Club wishes to clarify that it is campaigning with the authorities for the postponement of the TOP 14 and European Cup matches concerned by the blackout period. This is so as not to penalize the club's economy but also and above all in order to be able to share the end-of-season games, and the emotion that accompanies them, with its supporters.Of course, we will keep all of our supporters regularly informed of developments and the decisions taken by the competent bodies. |

That's interesting - this seems to say that Toulon actually want the games to be postponed, but would expect to receive some form of financial compensation if that decision is taken out of their hands. Would the compensation come from the FFR or the French government, I wonder?

Who cares 🤷♂️ what happens will happen. Your life, health, and your family are far more important now than any sporting event. We best get used to not enjoying our weekly enjoyments that we have all taken for granted over the decades.

Of course. I had already cancelled my trip to Toulon. No need to state the obvious! (I have also decided to not attend Wales v Scotland, BTW.) I was nevertheless interested by the suggestion in Toulon's statement that they either hoped for, or expected, some sort of financial support from the government. Life must go on, somehow, and clubs will have significant worries until they know what exactly is going to happen. |
