If anyone needs any further proof of the unworkability of the current 25 cap rule & associated clauses its this story. It is being suggested that even if Thomas does not make the cut for the final 33 he will still be covered by the rule and would need to join a Welsh region now that his Montpellier contract has been terminated. If that proves to be the case it is utter madness.

Would Scarlets want him? Losing Sebastian and Griff John and Samson still unproven post injuries and just a solid scrummager who is not mobile .

It's a gamble but I never thought that Samson was a mobile prop , didn't we just place him as a pillar at the breakdown and then we made sure no one passed him the ball , but his first job is scrumaging...

True but he’s had awful injuries to Achilles etc and I note that Wyn Jones has been dropped from Welsh squad ( shocked really ) because was not mobile enough for the modern game. Thomas is mobile I assume if being selected for Wales camp?

He will have been assured a regional place...right behind the likes of WGJ, Holmes, Wainwright and others.

No heroes playing for the 'Welsh' shirt in this I'm afraid ( and I'm glad)
