Thank God we have a new topic on this section. Mine's been there for months after months.

What are the thoughts on performance for this season? With covid it may be difficult for anyone to tell.

C'mon bois.

A Welcome Return To Training

Llanelli RFC Head Coach Paul Fisher is looking forward to his side’s first 80-minute game of rugby this weekend, following a difficult and unprecedented time for all.

An extended squad returned to the rigours of training in July very much looking to make up for lost time during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Commenting on the summer training block, Head Coach Fisher said; “It’s been an immensely difficult time for everyone during the pandemic and returning to training, and some sort of normality, was definitely a positive for us.

“We started with an 8-week remote conditioning programme, managed by our Strength & Conditioning Coach James Cartwright, which gave the boys an opportunity to work on their fitness before returning to contact training. There had to be a big focus on conditioning in the first instance after such a lengthy period of time away from the game.

“Everyone really bought in to the programme and it meant that they all returned mentally and physically ready for pre-season. Our main focus has been the re-introduction of fundamental skills along with a gradual return to contact sessions.”

The summer’s work will be put to the test in two pre-season friendlies, against Felinfoel RFC on Saturday 4th September and Trimsaran RFC on Saturday 11th September.

Llanelli’s competitive season will get underway on Saturday 18th September as they take on Aberavon, at the Talbot Athletic Ground, in the opening game of the inaugural Indigo Group Premiership Cup.

The Indigo Group Premiership is set to start on Saturday 11th December.

I do hope that the new coaching set up are a bit more accommodating with player release. The number  of players not getting enough game time especially Academy has not been great in the past and likewise fringe players. I am not optimistic though. We need a decent and stable RFC team to compete just out of respect for paying fans and other clubs we play ( I would be happy with mid table to allow for us being a 100 % development team for the Scarlets ) . Optimistic fingers crossed 🤞

Any squad news yet? Have the rfc boys been playing for any junior sides in the last few weeks?
