Rugby paper are reporting that Blackett is being lined up to take over at Edinburgh. I hope this isn't the case and we have signed him up on a long term deal. Our attacking play has improved hugely since he's arrived.

If he gets a Head Coach offer he will surely take it.

I hope he doesn't leave otherwise we'd have to go and search for a new attack coach. We can't have Dwayne looking after the attack as well as being head coach.

Ben Franks is off as well isn't he? I thought I read that here on the forum.

Why someone is surprised? I dont think at the moment we can offer a big deal to Blackett, and above all in what role?
Hope in the staff, who will remain, are watching and assimiling all the job did with him..

We will be very lucky to keep him tbh. Only bought new house in Midlands when was at Wasps and commuting 1000 miles a week to us. We need to pay him big money at least. Been a great signing. I suspect it will be back to jobs for the local boys again next to save money.

Well I feel that we need a period of success , it's been 7 years of nothing but promises and letdowns ...I think we have a good collection of players but we struggle or ignore coaches ...Ireland did the opposite and installed good quality coaches at youth level , which resulted in a team of u20 players , playing for Leinster putting 30 points on Cardiff a few weeks ago ...it seems that the importance of development has now been pushed to the most important factors ...I would like to see a top level coach with the RFC so we produce our own , with the opportunity to replace the youngster when they leave for bigger sides ... unfortunately we are a supplier side now due to lack of finance

Nice article. 2 things stood out, one that he is travelling so far each day/week. I travel over a 1000 a week and its a killer. Luckily though I have a company vehicle so I was surprised Lee doesnt also have one. Running my own car for that mileage in the current climate would make me think about somewhere else anyway.

Great interview, thanks for sharing. He’s earned my respect and I totally understand him leaving for a head coach spot if he gets one. Hopefully what he’s shared with the players and staff makes a lasting impression, there is not doubt in my mind he’s been a key force to help turn the season around.

It leaves us in a mess again , we are losing 2 coaches and gawd knows how many players and we are wishing him the best ...I say bollocks , if we want to be a top side we can't afford to lose people like this ....people have short memories , b4 this guy arrived we couldn't buy a win , now we are loosing him and Frank's , I'm not full of confidence for the future ....probably will see peel serving in the new bar at half time tooo.

If he goes to Edinburgh that's a hell of a commute.  One reason for him to stay here.

I'm sure we'd all like to see him stay. However he will clearly want a head coach role and we already have a head coach. Are you suggesting sacking Peel and offering Blackett his job? We were very fortunate to have him come as an assistant due to what happened at the Wasps leaving him jobless mid-season. There will be clubs who will want him as head coach for next season.

Ha .. but I think a Head Coach job there with the money on offer plus long contract, will prove a no brainer and it’s a fantastic city ( no disrespect to Pemberton 😉)

Yeah, if its a permanent role as head coach on far more money, they would probably move. We are very much a stop gap sadly, something we will need to get used to Ouch

The key issue for Scarlets is stability  and continuity.
If you look at where  we have been....Easterby- to Ireland ,
Pivac/Steve to Wales, Moar to NZ, Delaney- replaced...all this in a comparatively  short period of time.

At present, we have a young and inexperienced team, comparatively,  leading scarlets.
Dwaine,  Franks, Emyr,  are new to there current roles, and I always felt it would time for these individuals  to fully develop. The technical  issues  regarding  line - out may be a  by product.
Now we have had a fresh face in from Wasps, someone experienced,
It's no accident,  that we seen an improvement. The variety of attacking strategies,  and the way we have been exploring  and executing  great running lines, has been wonderful.

Top sides  like Leinster, to the best international  sides, seem to be able to maintain  staff and the consequences,  surely  is successful  continuity.
Whatever  happens at Scarlets,  which is my main concern,  I sincerely  hope  we can follow suit

Hope he stays and realises the potential of this fantastic West Wales and its history and culture. Sometimes the bright lights are not what they seem...the Capitol of Scotland or the amazing Scarlets....absolutely no brainer for me.

SRU have deep pockets unlike the clowns killing the Welsh Game.

If it's Blackett and Franks gone, wonder who we recruit ?

Guess Stevo, Mark Jones etc are available back wise.
Forwards coach is a trickier one, can't think of many options.
Will come down to finance.

Until 'at least' the end of the season I think...

This effectively counts out Blackett. Diamond has first dibs.

We had made our approach to Blackett, it's now really about relocation and whether he wants to be effectively the 2IC. Hope he does. Looks a good fit for us and the players like/respect him.

Lofty has agreed to 'onboard' him this week...that should sort it (Oracle in attendance as his glamorous PA...now, try unseeing Oracle in a pencil skirt and lip gloss...I can't).

That is key - you have some inside info here, so like the others I truly hope he can be persuaded to stay! The Scarlets, at least, don't have a 'hire and fire' mentality, if that sort of stability means anything to Blackett.

That is usually the caseWasp but interestingly Blair is leaving Edinburgh because he wants to go back to being a full time backs coach. He has given the head coach role a chance but finds the non coaching things like renewal & retention etc not as fulfilling.
