After all that's happened over the last few weeks and the news today that Nigel has finally been announced as the new DoR at Gloucester, I feel that Sal deserves some recognition for what he posted on the forum about two weeks ago. He was ridiculed and vilified by some on here for his claim - but ultimately whichever way your views on this may be, he was 100% correct.

Thanks for the post 2 weeks ago Sal, great sources you have my friend. Does this now mean we can call you the Oracle on SF??

Sorry Smelly, but I've got to give credit where it's due.

He went out on a limb by posting it, and he was 100% correct with his source.

Nah he just got lucky. I've heard that Glos didn't even have him on their radar until someone from there read what Sal had said on here about him going and they though 'he's the man'.

So basically Sal is the reason ND has gone?

If we'd agreed to match or trump Glouceter's offer a couple of days ago I think Nigel would've stayed. He didn't "leave" until ink was on the paperwork. Verbal agreements do not always pan out. e.g. Stephen Jones' return in 2006.

Money wasn't the ONLY reason for Nigel leaving. Interference from the blazer brigade in Cardiff was one of the main reasons!!!!

I was told that one of the reasons for Nigel accepting the glaws job is the amount of interference from the WRU in how the regions are run, player release, meaningless fixtures before important game and the state of the players when they come back from team wales

Well that's all true I guess, but he should have come out and said that. Many people, including myself, would agree with him. After two rounds of Europe last season Welsh teams were on 7 wins and a draw out of 8 games then there was that pointless international against Australia.

The WRU have to be made to realise that, in the long term, you can't have a sucessful national team without a vibrant club game. I'm pretty sure they don't accept that but we will be doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past if they don't.

But heyho I'm a Welshman living in England, they won't have to put up with the crap when they get back on top.

We have to embrace the pro12 and realise that this is where our players will come from. The Welsh players have to get used to winning and being the best. At the moment we have a bit of an anomaly that the Welsh national team is good but the Irish provinces rule Europe, I just can't believe that that will continue.

That may all be a smokescreen for "they offered me more money". Round here when Robbie Savage went to Blackburn he said he needed to be nearer to his family in Wrexham. You may not realise but the Blues training ground is on the west side of Birmingham and probably about an hour's drive from Wrexham. If he'd said "I want to play for my mate Mark Hughes" everyone would have said fair enough.
