Bonkers Liam’s in over Jonah Holmes and no Scott.

Good luck to everyone though, hope they go well.

Usual feeling when I see the Welsh squad - a mixture of how on Earth some get selected - how they can leave out some obvious candidates. Dillon Lewis ahead of Samson? Thomas Young special deal ahead of Reffell & Jac Morgan? Tchiunza smacks of trying to stop him being selected by others - are Ben Carter & Tchiunza better than Morgan Jones. Liam no games but in the squad. Foxy & Tomkins - are they really two of the best 5 centres currently in Wales? Hardy is he better than Rhodri Williams? Is Johnny McNicholl better than Jonah Holmes.

My opinion is that this Autumn campaign is when the chickens come home to roost for a Welsh squad which has punched way above its weight in recent years.

What does that look like tho GPR?

Losing by 40 point vs the ABs?
Losing by 30 vs SA/Aus?
Losing to Fiji?

Gatland had kept scores close to SA/Aus but was regularly hammered by the ABs, then there was a time when Wales lost 4 in the Autumn.

I agree, a disaster is possible, but even if they win 2/4 or 1/4 with no spankings it could be deemed progress on what Gatland achieved in the Autumn.

I think Holmes has to count himself very unlucky not to be in.

No matter how I look at it our back line is very very weak for the ABs match.

I can't see them winning more than 1. Well Gats did get us to compete with Australia & the Boks. We have very rarely troubled NZ. Perhaps I am being pessimistic because of the generally poor state of our regions but the 3 big games are against battle hardened teams while most of our squad is lacking gametime/form or both.

Who plays 15 - Johnny or Adams? Who plays 13 - Tompkins who does not look like an International, Foxy who has lost his pace, Halaholo who is a 12; who plays 10 - the 34 year old Priestland or the just back from a nightmare injury Anscombe. Its the same old story though isn't it - guys rushed back into the Welsh set to get long term injured & sent back to their regions. I would hazard a guess at this 15 for the AB game.

15. Johnny 14. Adams 13. Halaholo 12. Foxy 11. Lane 10. Priestland 9. Tomos Williams
1. Wyn 2. Ken 3. Francis 4. Beard 5. AWJ 6. Moriarty 7. Jenkins 8. Wainwright

16. Dee 17. Rhodri Jones 18. WGJ 19. Rowlands 20. Basham 21. Cawdor 22. Anscombe 23. Williams.

I think we will hold our own at the scrum, be 2nd best at lineout & breakdown and it could get very messy behind. Anything better than a 20 point defeat will be respectable & will come with the usual Welsh coaching platitudes - we will get better as we play more during the Autumn etc. Well they will have their chance with the Boks up next fresh from beating the Lions & AB's.

I think if Johnny Williams goes well this weekend, I would be minded to look at him at 12 against the AB's.

If I was Rob Evans or Nicki Smith and the Welsh coach thought Carre was better than me I would retire from international rugby. Holmes not being picked is ridiculous. Far too many players from the Scarlets not enough from the Ospreys how will that look to other regions
She asks why i still can't answer. I guess its in the blood.

I can’t see us getting near the ABs but I think the return of Faletau, Biggar, LRZ makes our match-day 23 that bit more competitive, and thus I think us against the Boks and Aus will be close for one or both.

Remember this Pivac welsh team scored more tries in the 6N than anyone else ever. Vs the Southern Hemisphere teams you have to score tries to win and that’s what Gatland never got his teams doing
