Just……just why? Gats had 2 weeks to drop some of the donkeys and call up fresh talent for a crack at test level and he’s…….picked beard. And stuck with Owen Williams who did sod all last time out. Yellow card magnet Sanj goes to fullback and LRZ loses out for what reason? Have to say I’ve seen nowt in Hawkins, he’s had 3 starts and when Tompkins has come been shown up as not really offering anything. Why bother calling up Kieran Williams if he’s just holding tackle bags? Is Carre injured, or just dropped for no reason despite offering one of our few physical threats? And poor Tshiunza must be properly confused, he wouldn’t be in my starting team (should they ever be crazy enough to give me the job of selection) but how is he dropped altogether?

And Tipuric starts. Jesus. I’ll watch the game but with a sense of horrified fascination rather than entertainment I suspect

It's a selection based apon flicking a coin and deciding by elimination....Italy have a very good set piece , all their players have a job to do and they do it ...This is where I worry as our forwards tactics are erratic at best ...I wonder how many times the number 9 will kick the ball away tomorrow...Also our number 10 isnt international class either .....I will be watching the game with anticipation, all I hope is that it doesn't follow the format that happened in Munster ....by heart won't take it

Gatland is becoming a joke he reckons Wales lost to England  because there were splits in the camp about striking ,Well everyone get your double on now for us to win the last 2 games i thought it was down to taking the field with the sole intent to kick to Steward for more attacks than the Zulus at Rorke's Drift.

That is one of the worst selections yet in a disastrous season. Drops Christ t , our only carrying 6 and a lineout option, keeps beard over davies and awj? why? drops lrz for dyer? WHY WHY WHY...Picks owen at 10 over patchell , why? and no 10 on the bench? why? webb past it....cawdor is the form 9 but hes apparently not in the top 3 in wales....if owen misses any kicks no back up kicker either
This is a complete and utter shambles and this time it is down to gats if and when we lose

Maybe he's only selecting players who are compliant yes men and leaving the awkward squad out until they toe the party line.  Just a thought  (though not much of a one).  To me he looks like unhappy,  bewildered and missing his old enforcer Edwards.
Keep the faith

Each to their own. I find it difficult to support the team gatland puts out. Gatland has taken the pride out of welsh rugby.

Never thought  I would say this, but Wales might just as well stuck with Pivac until the WC...bizarre as that may sound.
Gatland has undoubtedly  taken  a "poisoned  chalice ", BUT, in terms of tactics and  haphazard  selection, we have gone backwards .
No real hope of anything but another defeat on sat, hopefully,  not too humiliating one.

This.

Edwards.

100% right There is a reason why we havent developed or transitioned to a new squad and a lot is down to these mindless selections and the coaches dictating a limited pre-determined game plan....In short kick and chase to orders.

As usual we are not only losing, but we're losing the chance to develop, grow, improve and try different gameplans and different players within these gameplans. Such a waste.

Im off to william hill to put a few ponies on the azzuri

Gatland's appointment was a knee jerk reaction which they thought would appease the public because of his past successes it's pretty obvious he has become stale with his ideas compared to any of the other coaches in 6 nations.

Who in their right mind would appoint a coach who has only won 1 game in 3 years. Even his previous employers moved him away from coaching. The Chiefs must be clapping their arses that the WRU have taken him off thier hands.
