Am I right in thinking that if Gatland want to bring fresh players into the squad he will either have to drop an equivalent number of players from the squad already selected or ask permission from WRU to exceed his six nations budget, assuming of corse he has a budget to stay within in the first place. Could the fact be that in the past the coaches have brought players into the squad without having to justify the cost and that's one reason the WRU are strapped for cash. Anyone know how it works?

If you're going to waste so much ball box kicking you've got to place it within reach, and have a player or two who relish chasing and challenging for it. I can only think of one in the Welsh squad - Sanjay.
Perhaps we also need the forwards to clear out quickly and a scrum half more willing to take a few risks and not wait for a slow but safer line-up to attack with - or even try to break through himself if, by some miracle we get a quick ball. |

England's blocking of the Welsh chaser yesterday was Irish like ..As soon as the ref showed he didn't care , we should have altered the kicking game to take this fact into account

There was one occasion yesterday one of our players got taken out in air touch judge put his flag up and stepped on pitch. Ref ignored him and the touch judge just walked off.
I was disgusted by the selection picking the tried and failed old guard and leaving out Morgan Jenkins Rhys Davies and Dillon Lewis from starting. The selection of Owen Williams was the joke it turned out to be and how much longer do we have to put up with Tomos Williams. He needs to be radical now for World Cup just go with youth and get rid of dead wood. Go outside squad for Italy and France being in Costellow Ioan Lloyd Conbeer J Mac and Yes Joe Roberts. Francis, Beard AWJ and Tuperic are finished I know they are all ospreys but they were poor yesterday. |

Saying they can't fault the players effort, I can. Especially their mental efforts , coaches too....did they have any tactics at all ? Kick the ball aimlessly all day and hope for a lucky bounce sums it up...you could scribble that nonsense on a small match box ...£500k for match box scribbles ...this was the worst performance imo against a poor English team

Wales need to up the tempo with front 5 carrying.
Kick accuracy is poor, must be getting someone underneath it more often to compete.
Once again, scoring inside the 22 is an issue. Being isolated and picked off by English back row.

Absolutely, the officials were poor (England not entering a single ruck from behind the rear foot for example) but I just accept they will be crap these days. How pro players can make so many basic errors I have no idea. It’s so frustrating when players like Jenkins and Rhys Davies showed what they can do and then don’t get selected. When Tompkins came on he showed that the Hawkins and Grady midfield had been anonymous, did more in 15 mins than the other 2 did all game. Surely on form the backline has to be Webb(grrr), Costelow, Kieran Williams, Joe Roberts, with Conbeer and Giles on the wings and Zammit at fullback (unless we’re brave enough to put JMac at 15, best attacker going but not a great defender)

Every other team as an athlete in the 2nd row.
Every other team has a carrying threat at 9. |

du ponts accurate up and unders landed on a sixpence as usual today, allowing the french attackers to compete for the ball or hit the scottish ball carrier...we did our usual kick it 20 yard too long to a dangerous full back...utterly mindless
