Yes the hooker position doesn't quite seem to be as we expect but it is about the only position where we seem really short and the chaotic governance of the WRU was always going to stress test this process. That we only have one position where we are worse than a bit short is a tribute to our management. If the other regions are not in a worse place at the start of next season, I'll be very surprised.
If we are short of hookers, are we reasonably stocked at prop? If so, like Ireland did with Cian Healy, we could have a prop multitasking and someone else throwing into line outs. A bit of lateral thought and practice in (extra) training.

We're short to an extent everywhere but if Ken and Ryan are with Wales, we've got two hookers left. That's really short before one of them gets an injury.

You can always get temporary players in from the feeder clubs or other regions.

I think all clubs have carried too many players in the past the amount of players that only play 3 or 4 games a season is unbelievable.

Taylor Davies

Having been released from the Scarlets, Davies is picking up his rugby close to home and has signed for Llandovery next season.

I thought Cardiff might’ve picked up one of our hookers now that Dacey is retiring.

good luck to Taylor who was superb for the RFC and never quite broke through at the top end. I am confused ( as usual) on how clubs like Drovers will fit in with the new elite league if they sign players like Taylor and Iestyn Rees etc. They will certainly stiffen the challenge for any further reborn Llanelli team in 24/25 to play I guess and perhaps even be better placed to a permitted to the Scarlets for urgent cover? Don’t know really. I still have not got over the rfc not honour games as a club owned by the region . It won’t have gained us anything in the popularity stakes. Looking forward to all the answers being provided!

It's a classic piece of Welsh rugby architecture this.

Semi pro clubs can afford to sign players that the Pro teams can't.

Beauty.

Good luck to both players. I agree with Wil's sentiments its a strange old world. From a purely Scarlets viewpoint it is good news having these players still keeping their fitness levels high & being on our doorstep. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will be calling on a number of players in the coming seasons from local clubs.

How is it going to work next season say if Scarlets have an injury crisis at hooker? Will they be able to call up Taylor Davies from Drovers? Or would they have to get him/someone else on loan/permit? Presume they would be allowed to go over their cap in that instance as to fulfil fixtures?

I guess it will be similar to what the Ospreys have done with Doel.

The Rfc is certainly getting a lot of stick on SM today about failing to honour the Newport game. I find it all very uncomfortable to accept. We are making no friends for sure on the public relations image for the Scarlets.

It is & to be honest it's systematic of what's happening across the community game too.
