Prefer the heavier stuff, personally. Favourite albums of 2011 are:

Black Country Communion - 2
The Answer - Revival
Foo Fighters - Wasting Light
Joe Bonamassa - Dust Bowl
Sixx:AM - This is Gonna Hurt

2011 re-issues which are superb:

Jethro Tull - Aqualung
The Who - Quadrophenia

That's the badger. Never read "Dirt", but seem to recall that it was being made into a film ?? May be wrong, though.

It took me up until this point of the thread before I'd even heard of any of the bands.

Edit: Apologies, missed Foo Fighters, only really liked their first album though Ermm

And the ruddy Strokes, they were everywhere at one point.

Yep missed that one (The Who).

Strokes rings a bell but can't think of any songs.

Probably best that I bow out of this thread fairly soon, most of the music I've got this year is stuff from the 80's/90's that I forgot all about but then heard them again on some film and thought damn I need that.

Not bad for a compilation album isit? :P

Truckers of Husk - Accelerated Learning
Death Cab - Codes & Keys
M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Panda Bear - Tomboy
Exit_International - Black Junk

For some reason, 2011 has been the year of the EP for me. I've been listening to 2x Skrillex EP's, 2x Islet, 2x Gallops and Future of the Left's Polymers Are Forever.

Have not got black junk yet but the sex w/ strangers ep was immense. Scott is letting me know when the black junk album is coming out on vinyl, he wants it done ASAP for the vinyl junkies!

You must have spoken to him more recent than I have because it was not looking good for Vinyl. I can lend you the CD if you want it?
Spoke to him roughly a month ago, possibly more. He was going to know soon about vinyl, he was very hopeful but quite possibly you have heard the outcome of the meeting he was on about. I'll be in Cardiff soon so I will pop ti spillers, they should have the album there. If not, I will borrow it if that's cool. Thank you!

M83 - Hurry Up We're Dreaming.

finally heard it.

what a stunning album. i have only got M83's self titled album and that was brilliant. spent alot of time listening to that, Portisheads Dummy, Mogwais Rock Action and My Bloody Valentines Loveless when i was in South Africa, but m83's new album, Hurry Up We're Dreaming is absolutely superb. straight into my list of top 5 records of 2011. a wonderfully written record.

anyone heard/seen Sigur Ros film? cant remeber the name. they have released the soundtrack too i think. was going to see it shown in a new place in cardiff. Gw Di Hw. lovely pint, relaxing, cross between the middle floor of clwb ifor bach (chilled out and full of soul/funk dj's) and 10 feet tall without the food and cocktails!! didnt notice cocktails anyway!! but they show music related films one or two mondays a month, Sigur Ros was the other day but missed it.
