Not having sky, its a case of test match special, and BBC online.
I always watch |"today at the test", however its only tonight however I caught up with the highlights of day 2's play. It was a real pleasure to watch Crawley's innings. He was lucky early doors, but later some of his shots were sublime. His off side driving is not just powerful, but so sweetly timed. He is a guy, who always gives the bowlers a chance, by being a too loose, particularly when he first comes to the crease. This is the way he plays, and with the current coach's approach, that's not going to change. Personally, I wouldn't like to see him, not change his style or attacking mindset & intent, but to moderate that with being a little more circumspect regarding shot selection. He has been consistent in this series, but could make a real treasure trove of runs in the future, with a little more application. Following on today, Bairstow's inning was a real treat, proving he is a better batsman , than wicketkeeper Will England be defeated by the weather.? Who knows ? One thing is for sure, the Aussies will fight every inch, so should be intriguing last two days

Like Pimp, I’m following the match on a mix of TMS and the BBC website.
A real joy has been discovering, Aussie commentator of is it close to 40 years or more, Jim Maxwell’s introduction to the Shipping Forecast. Captivating and humorous, varied in delivery and length. This is the first match I’ve heard them and they always raise hearty laughs from the co-commentators. Hope they release a compilation.

I have to wholeheartedly agree. I fail to understand the logic of selections. Woakes was fit and ready to go from the off. Wood had some niggles so I do understand them taking care of him. I am still bemused at why Tongue is deemed after Anderson & Robinson. I hope over the next two days that Anderson proves me to be a prat but I have seen nothing so far but decent line & length and being a bit of passenger in the field.

Agree re Woakes. Not sure Wood was fit (was he?) for the first two tests.

Both RR and GPR spot on. The point about Anderson, I made in an earlier post a few days ago. He is not threat at all, and at 41, fielding in a test match, expecting a lot ?So why is he playing ? Whatever happens in the match, surely they will recall Tongue at the oval, where the surface traditionally has been faster. Robinson ,maybe has injury niggles, still as he had not played prior to the 1st test. Looks a shadow of the player he was last season..so surely a recall for Tongue. Good innings at last from Marnus L. By his standards ,a poor series to date. Always does better in Australia , where the ball comes on to the bat more. Here he's been done outside the off stump, several times this series and out to Root and Moen, last two innings when well set. I have said before, particularly with David Lloyds sad departure to next season to Derby, I would prefer Khawaja and Neser as our overseas players at Glam, and that's not under-appreciating what a superb all round cricketer Marnus is, always giving 100% for the cause. Its going to be tough to take 5 Aussie innings tomorrow, so lets hope the weather is kind. |

it is of course The England and Wales Cricket Board technically but the Wales bit is not promoted at all. Is there a financial gain or benefit to Glamorgan and Welsh cricket in general from the current Board? If not why doesn’t Wales cricket cut the tie and go it alone so at least we have some self respect in ourselves? I have honestly felt zero association with the current team structure for many years. To me it’s England England England. Good luck to England but just as England going there own way

Logical reply and a good reply ...what really gets me is not the engerlish or their team , its the welsh supporters ignoring the elephant in the room ...if there is the interest for cricket , lets sort ourselves out and develope cymru and its own side , if you love cricket it would benefit the game by encouraging the growth of the game on a world stage ...we may not be the best but who cares ,and lets not forget how nz have developed over the years ...im sure theres enough people with enough talent to get the ball rolling

There really is no elephant in the room unless, of course, you are anti English/British. Plenty of excellent Welsh players have worn the colours with great pride & I certainly would not be painting them as some sort of deluded turncoats who had no pride in their Welshness. I totally get the anti Westminster feeling but I certainly do not confuse that with being anti English.

Judging by the series so far surely we are not going to suffer the anti climax of the weather winning.

It's nothing to do with any anti English feeling , it's all to do with the neediness of some to have such a lack of confidence in themselves , they need to want to pretend that Wales are part of something they are not ...Look at the supporters on the TV , the commentators the impact on the eye when watching the test match , Wales are never ever mentioned ..not in commentary , never by the supporters and I've yet to see a red dragon flag anywhere.....It's like an adopted child that is never invited by the family for food , photos or holidays ..they just stay in their room ... The whole system doesn't it hate us , the truth is that they don't even know we exist ..that's our fault not theirs ... If the past international players got together to form and develope a proper Welsh side , you would see a massive upturn in interest in cricket , which is not there currently ...but unfortunately all I see is the self serving attitude of these Welsh individuals , with no thought for the future development of the game through the Welsh outlet ....it's a massive missed opportunity for all countries especially us in Wales ... The ECB note no w , has only once in the last 5 years mentioned Wales and that was when the system was accused of racism , strange that . If people had money to invest , what a cash cow it would be for all concerned if the above idea was put into place .....
