Interested to follow the saga of Newey & Red Bull over the past months. Here we have the best engineer over the past 30 years deciding that he was not totally appreciated by the team principle Horner & also unimpressed by Horner's behaviour. He resigned & has now agreed a £30M a year 5 year deal with Aston Martin.

It may be just a coincidence but since Newey left in May Red Bull & Verstappen's performance & results have dipped considerably. Now formula 1 is a constant battle of upgrades and attempts at performance enhancement so without his constant input it is quite conceivable that his departure may be having a significant impact. I shall follow progress with interest.

I would imagine the guy with the biggest smile in the paddock over this announcement is Fernando Alonso - Aston Martin's lead driver.

Eddie Jordan, Newey’s manager might not be far behind.
