Are there any guidelines on this???
England lose the ball outside Italian 22, Brace goes back almost to the English 10m line. How far must a team advance before advantage is over??? In the 22m area, it seems that a side has to score before the ref calls advantage over!! Any refs here ?????

There is a great deal of inconsistency here - in one of the weekend's tests, a team had a knock-on advantage, came within a few yards of the opposition line from quite a way back, lost the ball - and then were rewarded with a scrum! I'd have said they had a big advantage and messed up, but the ref saw it differently. I think clearer guidelines and more consistency are definitely needed here.

In the example that I quoted, England has moved up half the length of the pitch. Either there should be a stipulation of 20 metres made advantage over, or a 10 seconds or say 3 phases if a side fails to make 20 metres. In the closing stages, a side can use the current messy situation to run down the clock.

I think it should be 3 phases for a knock on, regardless on the yards made, or if you kick the ball away (unless it goes out on the full).
For a penalty it's a bit tricker...
