I am sad to report the death of former scarlet from the 60's
Alan J Davies, of Pleasnt Valley Stepaside.
A Tenby boy, Alan was a contemporary  of Gwyn Robbins, and played back row  with great distinction for Tenby, in Pembrokeshire  league and Cup winning sides.  Alan' Llanelli teammates,  included Marlston Morgan, Gareth Thomas, abd Norman Gale.
Alan was a hard but mobile back row forward, and at 6ft 3 was a big man.
After his playing days Alan followed Llanelli regularly, travelling to many home games at stradey Park, and was a season ticket holder.
He loved the Scarlets,  but wisely would never get stressed by a loss like me!

With a easy going , friendly manner, Alan will be sorely missed  by all his family and friends.
RIP  Alan.

Sad news.Another old player passes .

Of course Llanelli (aka the Scarlets ), always had players from down West and still do. Llanelli had its own natural  “ region” and I am not sure of the material benefits of dropping the great rugby name for the sake of some marketing ideal. Cardiff Blues saw sense in dropping the Blues bit.
