If I asked you to choose your favourite song what's the first one that pops in your head?
Obviously if you had more time you'd choose another maybe but just for the purpose of the thread post the first one. Mine |

This morning I listened to Explosions in the Sky - "You're hand in mine" on the way to work and I genuinely think it's one of the most majestic pieces of music I have ever heard:

I'll have this one today, it's up there with the one I posted the other day:) If people only discovered this album after he died, then at least they discovered it. Hugely uplifting song, though the album was taken off the Mason's jukebox years ago as the youngsters all complained it was too depressing.

I think it's a difficult question really. A favourite "song" ?
Does that mean that it has to be 4 verse and chorus or can it be calssical? My favourite "song" is The Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter. I don't think that will ever be beaten as a tradiitonal pop / rock tune. It's a masterpiece. But there are songs which demonstrate far more musicianship and originality. Like Radiohead's "Paranoid Android" or "Pyramid Song". Which are freakishly structured yet the same genre. I've always said there is a massive distinction between "favourite" and "best". My top 10 "favourite" songs would be completely different to my top 10 "best" ever songs. |

Just stick favourites down for gawd's sake mun, whatever instinctively comes into your head and who cares what the "make up" is. Frasier Crane over-analysing alert!

It's impossible to pick a favourite song. It' changes with the hours, but right now, this is what is stuck in my head: |
