Heard today that Carmarthen quins have sacked their coaches and team manager. Players are not too pleased and there are rumours that previous coaches are due to return. Watch the player exodus - from a very relaible source

Lets snap them up then if they do go. Make sure the talent stays in the region. At least we've given Craig Evs a regional contract - how about dishing development contracts out to the players who are in the academy and various age group sides then?

There's a few good players there that could be snapped up, Dominic Day and Euros Lli evans in the 2nd row as where desperatrely short there, Mark o'kelly is a good tight head (registred with Scarlets for HC), Gareth King is far better than Nick Jones at full-back.
The clubs player and coaching staff should have stuck together, they had a good win last Friday and possibly could have pushed on from here! |

Carmarthen Quins have sacked their management team.
Despite winning 19-17 against Maesteg last Friday, director of rugby Ian Jones, forwards coach Craig Bonnell and team manager Kevin Jones have been dismissed. It is understood that former Quins player and director of rugby Peter Elsom will be in charge of the team for their encounter against arch-rivals Aberavon on Saturday, assisted by backs coach Emyr Jones. No Carmarthen official was available for comment. full story |

The players and coaching staff to be fair did stick together after Friday night, in my mind the Committee have got this totally wrong and it could be catastrophic for us as a club. Personally as a member of the club I feel there have been hidden agendas amongst the Hieracrhy and this is why we ar enow in the situation we are in. Rumour has it that the club are now in a position to offer the new (or old depends how you look at it) coaching staff the resources to find new players - where the hell you find them half way through a season is beyond me. I have followed this club for years and I have to say I am very disappointed in the way that the coaches have been treated, and this just instills in me the notion (I have mentioned previously) that the Committee structure should be disbanded and an executive board should be formed to run the club. I know for a fact that Carmarthen Quins have a Rugby Sub Committee and that some mebers of this, have nto played rugby at any level and not have a clue on the game so how they can make crucial decisions is beyond me. One very disgruntled supporter who is not looking forward to what I think is our LAST season in the Premiership. |

I share in quinsboy's feelings on this subject. The players and coaches have stuck together, hence the rumours of a mass walkout. This wont happen however for two reasons. 1. Contracts. you cant just join another club (unless its a professional/regional outfit) as you have a binding contract. 2. Most clubs won't wish to tinker with their squads at this stage of the season and if they leave now, hoping to find a club in the off season, by then they will have drifted off the radar. Things need to be sorted with the hierarchy of the club as we cannot afford to lose the expertise of a coach of Ian Jones' quality. He was immense for us in his role alongside being head coach of the Wales Under 19s. |

Rob Appleyard's name has been mentioned but the coaches are to be Peter Elsom and Anthony Dragone. I also know that the Committee have asked for all players contracts in, so maybe they are all next for the chop!! As for the players walking out I may be mistaken but as all the players are dual registered I assume they can refuse to play for the Quins and go play for their dual clubs!! Maybe now the Committee will be even more radical and drop the ridiculous £8 entrance fee, because if we carry on we wont have anyone left to watch. |

I think that the contracts that many players are on are not legally strong enough to hold the players. I know that some players are so unhappy that they are going to leave. A massive shame but it looks like the committee will at least be on the bench on Saturday and maybe starting - use some of the seconds - OH no they have all joined Llandybber - DOH
